Where to Shop for Furniture for Baby's Room?

My in-laws want to buy our baby furniture. I don't care if the crib matches the set, but we'd like to get a good quality set (dresser, chest of drawers or armoire, and possibly a night table) that will last at least until the child grows up and moves out. Does anyone have suggestions for where to look?

I've looked at Babies R Us and tomorrow we're going to USA Baby and Mother's Hubbard. Someone mentioned Baby's Room but we can't seem to find it. Are they still open? If so, where?

I'm also interested in recommendations for any other smaller furniture stores that I may not know about. (Though big chains are ok, too.)

For the whole set, we'd like to keep the cost under $2000 (under $1500 would be even better). I looked at some solid wood Amish furniture online and it was over $1,000 for one chest of drawers. As much as I'd like a good quality set, it doesn't sound like solid wood is going to be in our budget, considering we want several pieces.

There's a Baby's Room on Hayes near 19 Mile, I believe. Either that or 18 Mile. Have you thought about getting stuff second hand? Children's Orchard on Hayes at Hall has very nice gently used kids items including cribs, dressers, and changing tables. Just a thought!

The baby's room is just south of 18mile and hayes, it is on the east side of hayes and it is in a shopping plaza in the corner (it looks small but it is not). It is in the same shopping plaza a the bar Rosie O'Grady's.
I got my Armoire, convertable crib and changing table and I believe it was between 1500 and 2000, they are all great.
From experience the crib turns into a full or queen size bed -now that will not work until my child is older (teens)so I have to store the pieces since I don't want my 3yr old in that big of a bed and I got her a twin bed (acutally a day bed) to have until then. I just wanted to give you something to think about.
Baby's room was wonderful - my furniture did take about 10weeks to come in and then I paid the fee to have them deliver and set up (worth every single penny). It was in January and nasty out so we would of had to deal with that instead I PD them to do it. They were so nice and I would do business with them again.
I can't think of any other places - good luck and congrats

Hi,
We bought all of our funiture at The Baby's Room. I think it's nice quality and the prices aren't bad. There is a store in Novi (right by 12 Oaks Mall). There is also a store on Eureka Rd. in Taylor. The Novi store is much bigger. They have a lot on display. I would recommend going there. Also, if you buy furniture from them you can get the bedding for 25% off. They also do 6 months interest free financing. Hope this helps.

There is a great store - Kids Bedrooms - on Telegraph north of Square Lake Rd (about 1 to 1.5 miles) on the west side of Telegraph. They have a wonderful showroom and sometimes really good sales (they carry many brands and have tons on display). Do a lot of research about the various features and quality (while they all may look the same, they don't work the same or last the same). Also, if you are a member of Direct Buy or know a family member who is and is willing to purchase for you, you can save hundreds. I am a member and if you would like info on joining (we just bought our sons bedroom furnite from Direct Buy and saved a few hundred), just contact me.

The Baby's Room is near 19 Mile/Hayes. They are helpful and have the biggest selection. I would be prepared to spend some $$$ though. I got an armoire, dresser with hutch and convertible crib for $3,000. It was exactly what we wanted though - got to pick the finish and top quality. It'll last for a long time. Remember to be careful for the type of wood you choose - we opted not for a soft wood (such as pine) for fear the baby would bite it to pieces. Our set is on kid #2 and still looks perfect! Good luck!

Check out Wal-Mart.com. They have several different options for Nursey furniture. A friend of mine bought the one of the combo sets that converts from a crib to toddler bed to daybed to full size bed for about $200 or so I think. My friend absoulutely loves it. I was given my crib from my brother and sister-in-law who purchased it at JcPenny almost 8 years ago.

P.,

We purchased our children's furniture from Lea as they are specifically children's furniture. The great thing is it looks great and will grow with the children into adulthood.

Their website is: www.leaindustries.com

I don't remember the name of the collection we purchased for our daughter but our son's is called Deer Run. Check out their website for what you're looking for and then it can be ordered at Art Van. :)

i also got furniture from the baby's room on hayes, in the plaza with little ceasars, rosie o'grady's etc. is expensive, but VERY sturdy and nice. it's Munire, which i read afterwards that it is great quality for the price, meaning it's not the most expensive, but is great quality. whole set, with dresser, changing table, convertible crib with converter set and mattress was about $2000 (thank you in-laws!). Munire offers furniture in different finishes, and you can check them out online at munirefurniture.com (i think).

also, the baby's room has occasional 1 day sales. definitely ask them if they have one coming up!
