I am about to turn 30 and breastfed both my kids until they were 13 months old. After my first baby, now 3 1/2 my period came back 28 days after the last time I breastfed her. Then with baby number 2 we are 5 weeks past the last time I breastfed her and I still dont have my period. I know 28 days and 5 weeks are pretty close in time and Im not freaking out yet..... but does it seem normal to not have gotten my period after this long? Im not on the pill or any form of birth control as we have taken measures for permanent bc.

Thanks in advance

It may take a little longer for your body to get regulated again. If you are really concerned, call your doctor's office and ask if it indicates a problem. When is your next annual physical? (I'm guessing you should have just had one or are about due for one).

Hormones change, bodies change, the period too can change. I would hold off another cycle before getting worried - unless you suspect pregnancy - then take a test.

After one of my 5, my period didn't come back at all, and we had to jumpstart my cycle with birth control pills. I think I had lost too much weight that time around after the baby, and that is why I didn't have a period. The rest of them, I have gotten my period sometime while still breastfeeding. Usually when night feedings stopped, and baby is only nursing about 4 times a day, rather than every 2-3 hours. (Around 8-12 months PP).

Hormonal changes between baby number one and two? Stress? Weight loss? I didn't get mine for 2 years!

I would ask your doc as we are just medical "amateurs" on this site and can only tell you experience vs. facts.

My period returned at different times after each baby: 5 months, 8 months, 6 months, and 2 months. I was still breastfeeding each time.
