You can switch her anytime. The only difference is the consistency and if she has a hard time with it, you can always water down the Stage 2 foods. I have an 8 month old and that is what we did in the beginning and now I add a little cereal to thicken it up a little because she isn't ready for Stage 3 just yet.

Hope that helps!

I switched mine when we'd tried all the foods offered in stage 1. Stage 2 has more in the jar, and it's thicker consistency. It doesn't have chunks in it though, so she should be fine with it. If your baby can't finish the jar, just scoop some out into a small bowl for feedings and put the lid back on the jar and store it for the next feeding. I kept open jars for a couple days before tossing them. If you feed her straight from the jar, the leftovers will turn to mush from the saliva in it from double-dipping (yuck!).

When she's got a handle on Stage 1. The stages usually get chunkier to help with chewing, so you could try Stage 2. If she can't handle it, then go back to 1, but I bet she can. Good luck!!

When she seems like she can eat more thicker consistancy. Try mixing some cereal with her Stage 1 a Tsp at a time to see how thick she is able to eat. That will help give you an idea of how well she can swallow and if she is ready to move to stage 2.

Some stage 2 foods are still thin such as Peaches and Apple sauce. My little one was on Stage 1 for a short time. Since the food was so thin and messy I mixed a 2 tsp of cereal in it to thicken it up, even with her stage 2 foods I mixed cereal in it. So she was able to move to solids very quickly.

Hope this helps!

With my older son I switched when he was eating two stage 1 containers in a sitting- Stage 2 are bigger. I'm close to switching my baby and he is 6 months.
