Okay, here it goes.(i'll try to keep it short)I am having a hard time dealing with this issue. I live next door to in-home child care house. They just recently moved in last summer and I knew from the moment they started fixing up the house they were going to be trouble. The son of the childcare lady is the main concern besides the ladys boyfriend. Since the summer, they have done a lot of things. So many people come and go durning all hours of the day/night.(I grew up around bad stuff, so when i saw the pattern of people just coming and going and not staying, it clicked). Durning the day when she has about 10 children present at her house. Over christmas break my daughter and I went over there to bring cookies and to introduce ourselves and when he (the son) opened the door, this smell of pot was in the air. We handed over the cookies and left. The boyfriend wont be there while the parents are dropping off their kids, but arrive when they leave. Then leaves when parents come back to pick up their kids. (I see him in his car sitting around the corner.) We live very close to each other, and I do like to have my blinds up so thats how i see the stuff that goes on. I guess I am concerned and to be honest I am very nosie because I got kids of my own, but feel really bad for the the day care kids. So what should I do? Anything or just let it be?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I want to thank everyone who responded! It really did help me along with getting the courage to make a few calls. I did find out more information on the daycare and the people who are running it. And I did get a hold of Ramesy County and its now up to them with what they will do. Pretty much they said that there would be an investigation. I won't know what happend because I did not leave my contact information. THOUGH- I have noticed the boyfriend has not been over there for over a week now and there hasn't been any other activity with people coming and going. So, we will just have to wait and see! But thank you all again, it means so much to have your support! God bless!

Definitely report it. Call the county see if she is licensed. If so report it anonymously. Call the police report it anonymously. If my child was there (for one I have a good sense with that stuff) but if someone else knew about it and didn't say anything, I would be very upset.

Do something before something awful happens.

Shoot, I'll do it for you!!!!!!

Report it! I am in the day care biz myself, and there are very strict guidelines to follow. If this boyfriend is coming over, he has to have a background check done. Also, there are absolutely no drugs allowed or smoking when children are present. Not to mention, I don't like getting a bad rap because of screwball like this. Please report her. Call your local county government. They handle the licensing.

I would call. Just the fact that lots of people are coming and going during the day when she has children there is reason for concern. Who knows what kind of contact there might be going on with the kids!

Please contact the county right away. It might be worth a call to the cops as well.

From what your telling people she must be licensed. I would contact the county licensing worker. All report are confidental. Those kids should not have to go thru this. They will check it out. Possibly interview parents. My guess is parents are unaware of all this activity. If something is going on - she will loose her license- If not then you will have at least have nothing to loose, I would keep a log of stuff going on. you never know when some could happen. I just had a drug bust last week accross the street from my house. Anything is possible. Good luck

Oh my goodness those sneaky people. I'm sorry but you don't hide out like that and come back when parents leave. There's something weird going on. Are they in Dakota County? If they are licensed to do daycare every person in that home must have a background check. I would report the activity and how this person is hiding when parents drop and pick up. Without evidence they can only speak to the licensed daycare provider. You need proof of something happening. Please contact this number which is the Dakota County’s social service licensing department ###-###-####. If it's the wrong county maybe they can give you the correct number.

Oh my goodness please call immediately!! As a parent it would be the most tragic thing in the world to find out something like this was going on and that someone knew about it, but might not do anything about it. Since you live in St. Paul I am not sure who to tell you to call but I bet if you call ###-###-#### MN childcare resource they can connect you to the right people.

i would imagine you can make an anyomous call to the licensing department of your county (Ramsey?)...i think if you are having a bad feeling about what is happening, you should make the call. i would be horrified to know this was going on behind my back at the daycare!! do it for the benefit of the other parents and hope someday someone anyomously takes care of your kids if needed!!

Call the countY! You can call and make it annonymous. You have to because there is nobody else that is going to do it and be the children's advocate. The parents would freak out if they knew what is going on. As a parent I think you absolutly have to. Good Luck. You're in a hard position. :)
