So I have been trying to eat right, and loose some weight. I do go on walks and bike rides but wanting to get into shape. So I got a good work out video and wondering when to do it? Before breakfast? After? Before bed? What works best for you?

What can I do next?

I like to work out right before lunch, if I can swing it. I'm not a morning person, so I won't get up early, and I'm too busy before dinner.

I'm always hungry after I work out and I'd rather fill up on a meal that I would eat anyway, rather than a snack that adds extra calories.

I work out over my lunch break, the YMCA is just a couple blocks from me. So, I spend my hour there and then eat and work when I get back. Works for me since there's no way I'm getting up early, nor am I going to go to the gym after work when I could be with my kids instead.

I work out starting at 5am. or 5:30am. till 7am. 4 x a week for the past 3 years. It is really the only time I have to do it & once you get into a routine it becomes pretty easy to do. I do have a treadmill & bike in my basement, so I do an hour & a half between the two one time a week & then an hour of running the other 3 days. I've been successful in losing 50 lbs. and keeping it off, but in addition to working out, I eat pretty healthy. A variety of different exercise & clean eating is the way to go!

kid you not - 4:30 am.

it is the ONLY time my mind is clear and no one is needing me to DO SOMETHING. i get an hour every morning. then at 5:30 hubby wakes up, 6:00 son wakes up, then off to school/work, and the rest of the day is full. by the time i get home at night i'm pooped, so i have never had good luck trying it in the evenings. i tried to adjust it here and there - only getting up at 5:00 and doing 30 minutes in the morning, 30 at night - that doesn't work out. so i am resigned to getting up at 4:30 the rest of my life lol. at least m-f. i don't do it on the weekends.

My dd's gymnastics is l block away from my health club. I work out while she's there. they also have very reasonable kids babysitting in their kids club (as most clubs do).

It's a nice break to work out especially when they keep the kids occupied.

I started a boot camp with my neighbor back in April. It's at 5:30am. AM, I say!!! Who in their right mind would get up at that ungodly hour on purpose and then do intense exercise on top of it? That is nuts! However, I chose to do it because I needed the exercise and it was really the only time suitable because my husband is home getting ready for work while the kids are still asleep. I have to say that on this extremely hot summer I have appreciated working out at o' dark thirty because it is the only time of day suitable to do strenuous exercise. Otherwise it is too hot. The secret is to get in a routine of getting to bed at a decent hour the night before. If I am in bed by 10pm I am rested enough that it isn't a problem to get up at 4:45am on Wednesday and Fridays. If I did it more often I would have to go to bed earlier than that.
So I guess you could say I have gone over to the dark side with my exercise! LOL
HTH,
A.

Before breakfast. If the kids are up, I let them play computer games and eat cheerios. They beg me to work out.

I like to do it in the morning.
To start my day off right.
However, most days that does not happen at that time.
So I try to fit it in when I can:
-when hubby gets home
-after dinner
-weekends
-sometimes if I'm lucky enough for little one to take a nap anymore
I have to try & get it squeezed in when I can.

First thing in the morning. It has to be this way or it won't get done... after work/school is too hectic and I want the evening with my kids at home. I basically get up at 5 a.m. or sooner. If I am going for a run, I'm out by 5:20 and back by 6:10 during the school year. If I'm going to the gym, I try to get there by 5:15 and back home by 6:10. Luckily, the gym is only a 4 minute drive from my house. My boot camp teacher said that I don't have to eat anything before the workouts because they are so early, but if you are not going to work out till a half hour or more after waking, you should eat a little something prior to the workout. If you are not working out upon waking, be sure to eat within a half hour/hour of waking up so you don't slow your metabolism and systems.

I hate waking up so early during the school year sometimes but I am thrilled when it's noontime and I realize I am done with the workout for the day. Find what works for you... good luck!

I workout within 30 mins of waking up because its alot cooler & good cartoons are on but honestly you do it whenever you can fit it into your day. Maybe you won't get to it everyday & thats fine, you just have to start and see what it going to work for you.

Depends on the day. Weekdays I workout at night after dinner. Saturdays I workout first thing in the morning. We all have different schedules that affect what down time we have. Review your schedule and see what time will fit in best.
I have heard that exercising 30 min - 1 hour after you eat is a good time because you are burning what you ate.

I find that going to the gym for an actual class (1 or 1.5 hours) 3 days a weeks works wonders. I know I'll go, and I love the class. Then I usually jog in the evening 5 days a week after the kids are in bed.

Good luck! Sounds like you're very motivated!

i can't do it before bed. my best 'work' time is at night, so that's when i do all my writing, then a reward of a bubble bath and some mindless tv before bed and reading. exercise would rev up my brain and mess up my rhythm.
my husband is like most sensible people who work out when they wake up. it energizes you and makes you feel virtuous and is for so many reasons the best time.
i'm a horrible morning person though. without a big mug of coffee or tea and some time noodling around on MP, my brain doesn't even start.
so i tend to do my running in the late morning, or in the afternoon (problematic in the heat of summer, but i like heat.) it's not ideal, it's just what works for me.
on the rare occasions that i do it first thing in the morning it's always great. but i'd be kidding myself if i set a goal to do it all the time.
take a look at your daily schedule and your own personality and work out from there what will do best for you.
