I'm considering going on vacation to Tennessee. My kids are 6 and 2. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to go, where to stay, and what to see?

Thanks!

the BEST website to find places & things to do is tripadvisor.com
reviews are posted by people like us that have been to those places, so you can get a great idea of what's what :)
good luck & have fun!

We used to live in Knoxville and I think Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg is a great place to go. There are outlet stores for you, and tons of stuff for the kids to do. Go-karting, Putt-putt, Dollywood, an aquarium, not to mention Smokey Mountain National Park which is huge there are tons of hotels in the area but also lots of cabin rentals which are nice if you want to prepare your own food.

Smoky mountains if you're into nature stuff.
Gatlinburg, Dollywood (amusement park), Pigeon Forge (outlet shopping)
Nashville
Chattanooga Aquarium
Rafting on the Ocoee or Natahala rivers (near Cleveland, TN - north of Chattanooga)
Ruby Falls/Rock City near Chattanooga, fun stuff for the kids.

If you're headed down on I-75 you'll go by Kentucky Horse Park, north of Lexington, and that's a fun place to visit!

I've spent most of my life in Kentucky and Tennessee.

Have fun!

Nashville is great. The zoo isn't the best but there is a waterpark, good food, shopping, beautiful parks, minor league baseball, football (if the lockout ends) and hockey. There's the Country Music Hall of Fame, Parthenon, museums. It's a beautiful city. Opryland IS still there. There is the Opryland Hotel. The Grand Old Opry opened back up shortly after the floods last year. Opry Mills Mall is still closed since the floods. The waterpark is nearby. There really isn't a bad place to stay in Nashville if you are just going to have fun, because everything is spread out. There will always be a couple of places really close to you and a couple of places that are about 20 minutes away.

It's an 8 hour drive from Detroit to Nashville (I-75 to I-71 to I-65). You can check their website, visitmusiccity too.

Aww, my hubby and I went to Nashville last summer on a random whim (never been there) and LOVED IT!!!! We are even considering trying to move out there when he's done with school. I have NEVER met such wonderful people and fallen so in love with an area so quickly.

We travelled without our kids (our first getaway since having kids!!!), but they would have loved it! Lots of fun shops, live music, GOOD food, and gorgeous parks. Have fun, I'm so jealous!!

Gatlinburg, the aquarium looks cool. We didn't get to go in, but it looked cool from the outside. Dollywood is cool for kids. Unless it's changed some teens will find it kinda boring, but kids have a lot of fun.

We stopped in Gatlinburg TN on the way home from a trip from GA. I wish we were there longer than just a day and plan to go back. It is in the smokey mountains and where Dollywood is. We went to the aquarium and it was the best. better than Atlantas which everyone raves about. There seems to be alot of amusement things to do there a well. There area is pretty. Google the town. Good luck.

There hasn't been an Opryland in Nashville for years (about 10+) - it's now a huge mall! (tho I've not been in the thing - other ladies I'm online w/have) Don't know how well that mall is doing now either!

Nashville is nice. Opryland is fun (it's an amusement park). I didn't spend a lot of time there, but I'm sure there is a ton to do.
