My youngest is 2 and i still have yet to lose the rest of the weight i gained. With my 1st 2 the weight plus more came off so fast and im not sure how to this time. I exercise 10-14 hours per week at a gym. I eat fairly healthy ( atleast i think i do) but i just can not seem to shake these last 10 pounds. Is there anything that actually works. Im not trying for vanity reasons but i want to be at a healthy weight. I would appreciate any advice, anyone with a similar situation, anything....thanks

What can I do next?

There are a lot of places online that provide support through chat rooms, message boards, toll-free numbers, etc.
One free place is www.sparkpeople.com. It has been helpful to me.
Good luck and keep in touch!

Try keeping a diary of WHAT you eat and how many calories you are eating. You are probably not eating as healthy as you think you are. The calories add up fast!!! In order to lose weight you have to burn more calories than you eat. Also eat small balanced meals and eat more often (every 3 hours or so). This will make your metabolism "burn" the food quicker. Don't forget about eating WHOLE wheat breads instead of white or enriched wheat breads!! 10-14 hours a week at a gym is a lot of time, you may be overworking your body. Try cutting your work outs down and do cardio for 30 min 3-4 times a week. This will also give you more time to spend with your children. I have done all of this myself and at 36 years young I have never felt better in my life! Whatever you do, don't give up!! You won't lose all the weight you want overnight. But if you do it right, once it starts falling off, it will come off fast AND it will stay off. Good luck!!!

I know you probably don't want a "diet plan," but if you haven't read up on the South Beach Diet, you really should. I bought the book, and the cardiologist who came up with this diet explains exactly how the foods you eat affect your body, and why you shouldn't eat them. It really makes you think about what you're putting into yourself and what it's doing to you. There is a free forum online where you can get all kinds of incredible recipes and advice/support from others on the diet. It also explains some basic information about how the phases work. I started this over a year ago and lost 15lbs in 2 months, (I had a hard time getting off the sweets, so I didn't lose as much as I could have.) I would definitely recommend this to anyone trying to lose weight and develop healthier eating habits.

Well, this is going to sound a little corny. But after watching Oprah or Dr. Phil, they had some people with the same problem. They suggest switching your exercise routine to something different. Doing the same thing over and over will not change anything after you have gotten to that "stuck" point. See if that helps. But I do recommend weight watchers as well. If anything else, try talking to a nutritionist. They may have some suggestions. I am going to see one in a couple weeks at Houser Norburg.

It sounds to me like maybe you are working out too much. I know that sounds insane, but if you are doing alot of muscle toning exercises, this is why. Muscle weighs more than fat. Perhaps you should change your work out routine to less muscle toning and weight training to more cardiovascular training to increase the calories you burn and lower the amount of muscle you are building. Another thing that would help is to dramatically reduce the amount of complex carbohydrates that you take in. Hope this helps!

I don't know if this helps but after my middle child I started on the Depo shot and I couldn't lose the extra weight for anything( I didn't gain any either) but you might want to talk to your doctor if you are on some kind of birth control.

J.: I am new to Mamasource a friend just invited me. But, I am post-menopausal and you talk about a pain to lose weight. I work with a company called Legacy for Life, they came out with Trimberry extreme this past summer. I thought it would not work, but to my surprise, I tested it and went down from a size 12 to a size 10 without diet or exercise. I was totally pleased. I then asked my 15 year old granddaughter to test it, because her weight was ballooning up. She lost 13 pounds in 5 weeks.
It is made of all natural exotic plants that are great antioxidents. It curbs the appetite, aides in metabolism and increases energy, with no dangerous drugs or additives. Depending on your appetite you only take 1-2 tablespoons per day. I can't believe it works. Now, I might decide to do some exercise!!! Ha! I want to look good when swimming weather comes. You can look at this product on-line at www.legacyforlife.com/ck It worked for me, maybe it might be just what you need. Good Luck. C.

I know what you mean! I struggled for quite some time with the pounds that I needed to lose (still need to go about 5 to 10 more) but what helped me was a company called Arbonne. They have wonderful protein shakes and an orange fiber shake that I use as a meal replacement (I also add in other ingredients like skim milk, fruit, vanilla yogurt, peanut butter, oatmeal, etc. ~ I've got some wonderful recipes to share) and they really do fill me up and satisfy me. I especially LOVE their new energy drink which is so much better for me than soda or other energy drinks like Red Bull or Monster. It speeds up my metabolism and suppresses my appetite! Everyone I've shared these with has purchased them!

Another trick that I couldn't live without is their Weight Loss Chews! Just like popping in a Starburst or Tootsie Roll, but one that, again, suppresses my appetite and increases my metabolism.

What was encouraging to me as well is that these products are all formulated without animal products or by-products so they are certified vegan. They are kosher, too!

Of course excercise is critical; I try to do anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes 5 to 6 days a week.

Because I loved the products so much and they made such a difference to me, I began a business with Arbonne. I would be happy to share more information with you or send you some free samples so you could "try before you buy". Know that Arbonne does have a 45-day money-back guarantee so it's no risk to you at all!

I'd love to see what you think...drop me a line if you'd like!

Have a wonderful day!
L. G

The South Beach Diet is wonderful. The research behind it is legit and it really works. I lost about 10lb's in a little less than 2 months. It has now gotten so popular that they have, cereal, wrap kit's, frozen dinners, packaged cookies, etc. If you like to cook they have an awsome cookbook, and they have a great web-site as well that will track you're weight loss, give you daily menu's that you can adjust to you're prefrence, printable shopping lists and a chat room for support. It really is a way of living healthier. Within a few days you will feel like a different person! If you try it let me know how it works for you, and good luck!

I have to agree with a few of the moms on here. WEIGHT WATCHERS is the BEST!!! I had lost 60 pounds prior to getting pregnant. Then,I lost all my pregnacy weight from my first son doing this. Even after my 2nd son, between breastfeeding and weight watchers (they even have a plan for nursing/pregnant moms to follow), I have lost all my weight again. I went to the meetings for a long time, just for motivation, but once you get the info, it's just as easy, and cheaper, to do it on your own. I had tried everything, and this was the only thing that worked. And the best part is, it no longer seems like a diet, just a way of living...because you can still eat all the foods you love, just smaller portions. Hope you'll consider it.

Have you tried Weight Watchers? I joined a year ago & have lost 55 lbs. I have gone from a size 20 to a 10/11. And I feel GREAT!!! This program has worked for me after many failed attempts @ other popular diets. The reason it works best is because I can eat what ever I want, ANYTHING. Portion control is the key. I also workout almost everyday @ the "Y" I have a large family & quailfied for a scholarship. Weight Watchers has a special now where you can register for free. They have many payment options available also. I highly reccomend this program. And, NO, I don not work for them. Just a very satisfied member. Good luck in your weight loss journey!

All I have to say is WEIGHT WATCHERS... I have been on the plan before pregnancy, lost 50 lbs. and I'm on the plan again. I had my baby 4 months ago. I have lost 40 lbs. so far. Find a meeting nearby you, go to the meetings... learn the program and follow it, you will see results. You have to be self-disciplined and make sure you do what they ask. This includes drinking water, journaling what you eat and reading labels. It really doesn't take too much time out of your day. And remember... on this plan you can eat ANYTHING your heart desires, it's all about portion control and choices.
