Hi,

I am very new to this since this is my first child. I always had family members helping me with watching her but since she is getting older, I am trying to find a free or at least affordable preschool for her. I don't trust others watching my child so if anyone can recommend a really good preschool, I would really appreciate it. I hear alot of horror stories with daycare and preschool so please help. Thank you. T.

What can I do next?

i can reccommend frederick k.c. price III school (which is attached to the crenshaw christian center) in los angeles. they take 6 weeks to 12th grade. they're nursery/daycare/preschool is AWESOME & low cost. children get meals/snacks, are potty trained, and have a structured schedule where they learn & play. they have chapel or devotional time. private message me if you have any questions. you can contact the school at ###-###-#### which is the church's main line. good luck in your search.

The city of Cypress has a great preschool as well as the city of Los Alamitos. They are not to expensive and I've heard very good things about both. Being a teacher I am also very picky about preschool for my little one. Mayflower preschool in Los Al is supposed to be very good, although it costs more.

I am not sure where you live but my daughter who is now 2 will be attending the same preschool that my son (age 5) did. It is called the Church of Christ Preschool. It is in Leimert Park on MLK blvd. My son began there when he was 20 months and it is not a daycare. It is treated as a real school. They teach the kids phonics and many other things (my son read at 3.) All the while allowing them plenty of unstructured play time. They are licensed and the teachers are wonderful. They assisted with potty training my son. They also have a wonderful "chef" who provides tasty, nutritious meals and snacks. They are affiliated with the Crenshaw Church of Christ but does not force religion on the children or parents. They have devotion and learn to pray. They also help the children to learn non-physical ways to resolve conflict. I loved the 2 1/2 years that my child spent there and I am looking forward to see the great growth in my daughter when she attends beginning in September 2008. I know this is long, but I truly understand the worries about childcare. Blessings.

Kirkwood Christian Schools in Downey are great! I've never heard anything bad from any of the parents. The school is very learning oriented (even for the 2-3 year olds). Lots of field trips (at no extra cost). The Christmas programs are professionally videoed and you can buy DVDs. My son has always been happy there. He now goes to the Grammar school (also in Downey, for the same price, with a pool). They charge $124 per week and you can leave your child there from 7am to 6pm, if necessary. In my research I found this to be an average price with above average schooling. I hope this helps.
