Vacation Suggestions for Mommy, Daddy and 27 Month Old Baby Girl

I need help trying to figure out where we could go on vacation with our 27 month old daughter. She is active but not out of hand. We wanted to try and find maybe a long weekend get-away that we could drive to and would hopefully provide something fun and different for our daughter as well as provide my husband and I with a vacation. We live in suburb of Chicago and are not opposed to flying somewhere as well.

What can I do next?

My favorite summer vacation with the kids is to the Jersey shore (Wildwood area). We have 3 girls - 4, 2 and 1. They have a great beach, and the boardwalk has a bunch of rides that are just for little ones. We drive, but you can fly into Philadelphia (about a 90 min drive away) or Atlantic City (about a 30 min drive south) (don't stay in Atlantic City though.. too seedy for little ones in my opinion). She is also the perfect age for a day trip to Sesame Place just outside of Philadelphia. We stop there every year. She can meet her favorite characters, eat with them, see shows and it also is a water park with different areas that are perfect for little ones. I think this vacation is better than Disney at a fraction of the cost.

South Haven or Saugatuck in MI or Door County WI if you want to drive.

Boston is an incredibly kid friendly city if you want to fly somewhere. You could easily drive up to Maine or down to the Cape for a day at the Beach. I lived there for 11 years so if it's something you decide to think about shoot me an email and I can tell you more specifics.

We took a great "first" family vacation with our 2-1/2 year old to Milwaukee. Sounds boring at first, but there are actually a lot of fun things to do with a toddler there. We stayed at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center (has an indoor waterpark that's just the right size for younger kids). There is a children's museum (Betty Brinn children's musuem) and lots of playgrounds. If you go when the weather's a bit warmer, there are nice beaches and even a sprinkler/splash park in the area. Do some research ... it was a memorable family trip.
