Two Singles Mothers Trying to Find a Place to Take There Kids on a Fun Vacation.

Hello, a girlfriend and I want to take our kids on a nice vacation this summer. The ages are 6 for the little girl and 12 for my son. We originally planned on Puerta Vallarta, but too many people said it was very unsafe. So that's out!!! I am tired of saying, "This year I'm taking a vacation!" and it never happening. I HAVE TO GO! We want it somewhere out of California so it really feels like a vacation, but at the same time we need to be cost concientious... any ideas?

What can I do next?

If you want to stay in CA, so to San Diego, it's very nice. You've got SeaWorld, San Diego Zoo that you can take the kids. Shop and the pool at the hotels.

If you can, do the Disney cruise/package $1600 for 4 people-two adults/2 children for 7 days. Call disney (407) area code for more info or check the website.

Have you checked out Apple Vacations? My whole family went last year to the Riveria Maya for an all-inclusive deal. They are great because it's all you can eat and drink and the pools and beaches are all safe and fabulous. They usually have great deals as well. If you're going to Mexico all-inclusives are the way to go.

A carnival cruise is very cheap and fun. They have 3 or 4 day. Very good for kids.
Las Vegas is fun. It can be a great family style vacation-tons to do with the kids. Mandalay Bay has a beach pool. Close to Hoover dam and the Ethel M chocolate factory.
Phoenix and Scottsdale AZ are suppose to have som great family resorts.
Catalina is in CA but still a neat place to stay.
We are planning a trip to Niagra Falls in a couple years which is surprisingly cheap.

We always enjoy an inexpensive Carnival Cruise. YOu know financially what you are getting into because it's basically all-inclusive except for tips, souveniers and alcohol. We've taken the Monday through Friday Ensenada/Catalina one several times. You don't have to get off in Ensenada and it's still fun. They have very well-monitored kids clubs. We have never had any problem and it's a good value for the money. The weekend ones are a more "partier" crowd and cost about the same. The entertainment book has discounts. Plus you could all room together as a family...that makes it very cost-effective.

Club Med Cancun is tons of fun. There is a kids club so you don't have to worry about them during the day. It is on a very private piece of land with security all around the grounds. Check out their website. And it is an all exclusive package so lodging, food and activities are all included. Plus the workers are all very interactive and fun, there to entertain you at all times but willing to leave you alone if you don't want to join in. Good Luck
