Yesterday we took the front off of my daughters crib making it a toddler day bed. She slept fine last night and went down easily. She has always been easy to put to sleep. Just lay her down turn on he music and close the door. But today she won't stay in her bed. How do I teach her to lay down and go to sleep in her bed? And not get up and play just cuz the sides are off the bed?

I have the same problem with my 2 1/2 year old daughter durring nap times. She trashes her room before she finally goes to sleep. I haven't solved this myself because my son (10 mo) is rarely sleeping when it's time to put is sister down and DH is at work. But if I could I would do what I did the first time she slept in the toddler bed at night, using the Supernanny's "Stay in Bed Technique".

Best wishes.

Hi there! you know, i just went through this with my daughter she was a little over 26 months old. We (very bravely) did it over christmas. She was also an excellent sleeper.. until we got the toddler bed. It took us a week (maybe a little more) of STRICT bed times. And i mean strict. Put her to bed at her normal hour, then if she gets up once, put her back in, if she gets up twice, scorn her and put her back. If my daughter got up a third time, she got her tush spanked and back in bed. yes, it was VERY tough, but you know, it only took a week to get her to cut it out. and now, she goes to bed all on her own. It's great! lots of luck. remember, consistency is the key.

I always read stories to my son, and I will talk about quite time, no talking. I will lay down with him until he falls asleep, then I leave the room. I haven't found any other solution yet. let me know if you have additional ideals.

thanks
