Top Hair Salon to Get Makeover

I have longer hair and my husband wants me to get it cut short. I want to, but have never been satisfied with the results. Before Christmas I went to the JC Penny salon in Woodbury and spent over $200 on cut, color and highlights. I was very diasappointed with it. I have always wished I could go on one of those tv talk shows where they do complete makeovers, and the stylists choose what is right look and color for you. The people have 99% of time looked remarkable! That is what I am looking for, someone that can tell me what they are going to do and will give me an updated and modern look for my age. I would prefer to stay in the St. Paul or surrounding suburbs will drive anywhere if the salon is that good!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for the replies. I checked them all out and was going to tell my husband I wanted to try Accolades, but he surprised me with a early valentines present. He actually beat me to it and bought the gift certificate to Accolades! He went on citysearch and that's how he ended up picking them. Wow what a nice gift it was too. I love it there and love the cut too.

My hair is shorter, and I get it cut at the Juut Salon in Roseville. AJ is the gal who cuts it and she does a fantastic job. Her cuts are not too expensive ($35-40), and way better than anything I've ever gotten at JC Penny (I tried that for a while and was never happy). I have had Aveda color before and was happy, but have never had AJ color my hair.

I would also recommend ReVamp based on friends hair cuts. I've never had a cut there, but have had other spa treatments and it is a great place. They do have a service where they help with your clothing, if that is something you are interested in :) They have one package called the "Oprah Makeover". Maybe thats what you need?

I was also going to suggest Accolades. Agree with Jasmine's comments about that Salon. Another good location in St. Paul is Fringe Salon on Grand (near Lexington Ave.) Anyone working there would be great. They listen, give great suggestions and I've never had a bad haircut. Super nice people too.

If you're looking for a Makeover, ReVamp Salon in Uptown specializes in such a thing. I'd google their website to check them out. A friend of mine went there, got a great cut -looked completely different and she didn't think it was something she could pull off. She did!

Good Luck.

Meghan or anyone at Accolades Salon on Randolph Ave in St Paul (it's kiddie corner to St Kate's if you know where that is). They are awesome and really listen to what you want and make sure that you are happy with all aspects of your hair. I have long, thick hair that I never was happy with when I left a salon. I finally am now, every time. They are really up on everything, a little costly, but last time I had a full foil and cut and style and it was about $140. You walk in and they kinda have a funky edge, but I enjoy it.
Good luck!

Hi there. I am a stylist with 10+ years experience in just cut, color and waxing. I am offering a free cut and style with a color service OR free brow/lip wax with any cut and style. I am in Vadnais Heights and am trying to build back up to full-time now that my daughter will be attending pre-school longer next year.
If you have any questions or need your hair done still, let me know. I'd be happy to just consult with you and maybe give you some ideas.
Have a great day!
