Go get him some clove oil . Rub it on the gum line of the broken tooth; it doesn't taste great but works very well for pain relief.

Well it's Monday now...so probably won't be much help right now. Just for future reference you can always go to an urgent care and get started on antibiotics right away. They know it's an infection and will put you on pain pills and antibiotics. Please get it taken care of though it will return time after time until dealt with by a dentist. Good Luck!

There are products found in the dental section of a grocery or pharmacy store that you apply to the tooth to deaden the pain. He can also chew gum until it's "dead" and wrap that around the tooth to protect it.

Has he taken ibuprofen? This happened to me on a one-day vacation that we flew out of town for. Talk about bad timing! I could hardly sleep in the hotel and almost had to cancel Legoland. I ended up taking I think four ibuprofen and it eased up enough to get us through the day. However, my tooth was not broken like your husband's. I hope things improve - prayers!

oh wow... i dont think there is anything you can do to easy the pain... ice? it needs to be pulled... maybe get some pliers (jk of course).... i needed a root canal a couple months back and the pain was soo bad that i wanted to push old people and kick babies... and litterally wanted to pull the tooth out with pliers!

I'd start with motrin , then something like ambasol ( mouth pain gel). And they make a filler for broken fillings etc, it can be found with the dental products. it comes in a tiny tub looking thing. it's called Dentemp.

If he can get on a antibiotic right away, it helps pretty quickly. Swishes of whiskey does relieve pain temporarily. I know this is gross, but is there anything to pop. Sometimes there is a little bubble that you can stick a pin in. It helps release pressure and goo. I had problems with my tooth. Tylenol with codiene and naproxen together did not even help. It really is the antibiotic until you can get him to the dentist.
