Toddler Gymnastics/ Toddler Tumbling?

Hi mommas!
I was wondering if anyone has had their children in toddler gymnastics/ toddler tumbling? If so, what were your experiences with it?
My daughter is nearly 19 months old and we are trying to find some fun activities for her to do with other children.
She's very active and loves to do "flips" so I thought gymnastics might be a good fit.
I found a center that has classes once a month for her age group. Parents are present to help their little ones and since I've never taken gymnastics the instructor/owner said she would work closely with us so I can learn how to "spot" my daughter.
It sounds good to me but I really want to hear from other mommas that have done this sort of activity before.

Thanks!

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the great responses! I'll be taking my daughter to her first class next week :)
We decided we'll do once a month classes until she's 2 then, if she likes it of course, we'll consider the once a week parent and tot class for 2 year olds.
Thanks again!

Look into My Gym as well. My daughter attended classes there for about a year until she started preschool. She loved the instructors and had a ball there.

THIS IS A FANTASTIC experience for you and your daughter. The gyms around here, offer it mom and me gymnastics once week--which I think is more ideal than once a month. I have three boys and one girl--everyone has done this. It is great. Great for their social and motor skills, great for the mom. It is all around the most fantastic thing that I did for all four of my kids. I did swimming with the first child--we lived in a town with LOTS of public pools. Moved to a town with none...so then everyone did gym. It was great. Highly recommend!

I started my daughter at 2 1/2 and she did great. There were other kids that had been doing it for the prior year since 18 months and were only at the level my daughter started at. We had one in the class that was under 2 yo and she couldn't focus and needed help doing everything. All the mom's helped, but this baby couldn't do anything on her own. I just couldn't see how the mom could spend the money on the classes when she was getting more of a workout than the baby.
That said, my daughter loved it. We did gymnastics for a year and she's got great balance skills and amazing strength for a 3 yo. We were getting bored, though, since our class was too big and the kids were having to wait too long for their turn. We just started a tumbling class at a cheerleading place and it's amazing. She does a ton with the trampolines and lots of flips. Everything from gymnastics, but without the bars.
It's a great experience and I recommend it to everyone.

Our favorite is the local park district because it's affordable and fun. Ours actually has a full gymnastics gym that is much nicer than a toddler needs; ALL the equipment.

We tried them all. Gymboree was tons of fun. But, Little Gym intimidated my son because it was very loud, and classes were big. Both are pricey. Have fun with whatever you choose. At 19 months your child might not follow the group or teacher AT ALL. Just so you know what to expect. :)

My now 6 year old attended the little gym since she was 8 mos and remained until she was 4. She had great fun and was a ball of energy. I can't speak for all locations, but the one run by Mr. Paul and his wife maintained a great staff. It was the Little Gym of Snellville.

I'm not sure where you live, but the Roswell parks & rec has a great program for little kids. My oldest son took gymnastics there when he was a toddler & preschooler & LOVED it. It wasn't very expensive compared to other gym programs and it was a fantastic class. They really worked well with the kids. Good luck.

I took my son to a Mom and Tot program at a local gymnastics center when he was about the same age as your daughter. He LOVED it! He continued it for almost 2 years until he started karate. (He would do both if I had the money) I would definately suggest it!

I did a class like this for two months with my two year old. She enjoyed it, but I didn't get to interact as much as I liked. I really enjoy classes at the "Little Gym" or "Gymboree". They involve tumbling and they are centered around parent/child interaction.

I had my daughter in the Little Gym in Snellville as well - Mr. Paul and the staff there are great! She started about the same age as your daughter is now and she loved it - it took her a couple of classes to warm up to it, but after that, I couldn't drag her away. Now she's 3 and we still go there for the dance class which she loves as well. They have balance beams and uneven bars and all of the gymnastics equipment, but they also let the kids explore and just have fun.

Great for their motor skills! My daughter did not start that young but at age 4 she took and it is amazing how it has helped her coordination and balance. Most of all she really likes it!
