Ok. I went to my dr. app. wednesday, they did the whole check-up thing. Blood pressure, weight, and so on. He was going over my lab work and left me on my same dose of thyroid medicine. He said my blood pressure was a little up,but nothing major. I forgot what is was. Something over 87(botton number). He said the last few times it was up so he prescribe a Low dose 10mg. tablet called lisinopril.

I had high blood pressure with my first two pregnancies and was put on medicine which I was off after a few months after given birth. I don't really feel like it is my weight.(5'5 and 155 pounds, kinda a medium-large frame) My mother is telling me that I'm good where I'm at,but still I feel need to lose more.(which I lost 27 pounds already in 9 months,of my thyroid disease.) I know its probably stress, being a full time mommy of 3 kids, family stress, and worry about everything under the sun. Also we have alot of bad genes in my family, which is another reason where It might be from. Kinda stressful for being so young(at 25) and starting with some health issues. I know I can't control everything, but know I can control some things. I guess I don't know what to say abouit all this. Guess I need to get this off my chest.

What can I do next?

My husband started taking lisinopril at age 30. Now he's 40 and it started increasing again so his doctor prescribed another medication along with his lisinopril. But instead, he started taking garlic supplements, Co Q-10, and B6 and his blood pressure went back to normal without the other medication. I also have thyroid disease and when my meds need adjusting, I'm a complete mess. I started having thyroid problems at age 24.

High Blood Pressure does not discriminate against age, race, weight or anything else...

My girlfriend who is 5' 7" and 145lbs has high blood pressure - but her cholesterol is PERFECT....go figure...

Don't mess with it. Ask your doctor what he feels is causing your HBP - is it your thyroid? something else? Don't let it go...they call it the silent killer for a reason....

GOOD LUCK!!!!

i got high blood pressure when I went into labor with my toddler, he is 2 1/2 now. I had to stay on it after having him because it was staying at or over 140/90. a few months after having my twins 9 months ago my doc suggested trying to come off my meds. I was taking Labetalol 10mg once a day. Every time I had a visit my pressure was normal and he said at such a low dose he thought I would be okay. So I came off of it and 5 months later and still okay. So, maybe it is just the time in your life and maybe you will be able to come off of it. Maybe you will have to take it forever. But better to take 1 pill a day then end up with serious health issues ya know. Good luck! I hated having to take it. I hate that I have to take the meds i do now. but, i'd much rather do that then end up with worse.

The thing about HBP (high blood pressure) is that it does not age discriminate. I was diagnosed at 22. I weighed 130 lbs at 5'4. Active...very active I waited talbes and worked out everyday. Played softball, volleyball, danced...I am now 34 and struggle still with it and will for the rest of my life. As long as you take the medication, and do the things the doctor advises you will be ok.

The thing about the HBP medications is that many of them work form some people and many of them don't. I have tried several kinds...currently I am on Linsinopril and absolutely love it. However, be careful of the amount of salt you intake on this one. It can cause a lot of unnecessary side effects. Drink tons of water too.

PM if you ever need anyone to chat with about it. I've been living with this for 12 years and far too many people believe it's a 40+ health issue...it is not.
