My daughter just finished first grade a week ago and she is already bored in the evenings without any homework to do. Does anyone have suggestions for good websites where I can print off worksheets and find easy projects for her to work on during the summer? Thanks!

We have a very precocious Granddaughter and ran into the same thing..I went to Barnes & Nobles/Borders kids books dept, and they have workbooks and loads of reading materials. Also, check into Reader Rabbit Series for the computer they have a 1st and 2nd Grade level. Take her to the library for books...she is the perfect age for it, they love getting their very own library cards! You might even find some Reader Rabbit in the library. We bought it for her. You might even try letting her "help" in the kitchen. Hope this helps! She is 13 now and a straight A student aspiring to Medicine or Law. Don't have her full time anymore, her parents have her now! What a blessing for me to have been in her life at that age!

My kids enjoyed the workbooks available in stores
(back then, we bought them in the big department stores, now you might check BAM, etc)
We also did alot of projects at home like cooking together, artsy things, stuff I found in scouting handbooks and other kids fun day books found in thrift stores. We lived rural, so walks through the woods were a frequent thing, as well as hikes to the swimming hole. Swimming lessons filled some mornings for 2 weeks, too.
Ah those days of oobleck and homemade play dough!

Encourage her to be creative and write and draw, Journal what she did for the day.
I think these 2 things will help her more than anything else.
Just Google coloring pages, game pages, homework help, school work for 2nd. graders. All kinds of neat things come up. I used the free coloring pages when I worked at the Rainbow center. I found not only pictures to color but different word, letter and number games, etc.. Walmart, Kmart, Staples all have 2nd grade work books. Get her an easel and some paints, both of my girls loved to paint. Color pencils, crayons and some blank paper for art projects. Popsicle sticks, cotton balls, paper plates, doilies, etc. make great art projects. You can even go online to learn how to make different things. If you allow her to use your computer put her on playing educational games for about 20 to 30 minutes a day. Use your imagination. I used to take the girls for bug hunts, flowers, leaves, etc. Then they would have to make something with them. It was lots of fun. You might look around in the neighborhood and see if there is a older child that would be interested in doing some things with her one day a week. I hope all of this helped.

Barnes and Noble has a series called Summer Bridge Activities. Each book is specific to a grade level; for instance they have a 1-2 grade book. They are fun and kid friendly.
