Suggestions for Keeping My 9 Month Old Covered at Night

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to keep my little girl covered up at night? Right now she is sleeping in a sleep sack which is great but she is on the verge of outgrowing it. I haven't been able to find a larger size and she won't stay under a blanket. We keep the house warm at 72 degrees at night but I still like to sleep with 2 blankets on me to keep warm so I can only imagine that she should have the same. I don't want to have to get up constantly and check to see if she covered up at night. Any suggestions would be great.

What can I do next?

I tuck the blankets in. Maybe people would think that's nuts, but my baby stays warm and cozy and falls asleep great.

My little ones were both active sleepers. I was too worried about them getting tangled up in blankets to keep much on them. I would dress them up in multiple onsies and night time wear. Just bundle them as if you were going out for a fall day. My boys are now 2 and 3 and they cuddle up with blankets when they fall asleep but still kick them off when sleeping. I keep them dressed in sweaters, sweat pants, and socks to sleep in.

Check her before you go to bed. Does she feel cold? If not, I wouldn't worry about it too much. If she does feel cold, try fleece footie jammies. They are wonderful and cozy and warm. My dd wears them all the time (winter and summer). You can probably find really good deals on them right now cause stores are clearing out all their winter stuff. Babies actually don't need as many blankets as adults to keep warm, for some reason. We keep our house at 72 and my dd doesn't need blankets, even though I do.

I use the footie jammies from Gerber or Children's Place. Usually he has a onsie underneath too. I don't like socks b/c I think they are too tight to sleep with all night. We keep our house at about 68 and he is always warm when I get him in the morning. We keep his door closed and his room stays toasty.

One Step Ahead.com carries sleep sacks with sizes up to XL(36 lbs). My 20 mo. old still wears one at night. I swear by them. I never have to worry about her being warm enough at night. Good luck!

Footed pajamas would keep her plenty warm.

I'm in the same boat with my twins. I love extra blankets but obviously they can't use any. After my boys outgrew their sleepsack I put them in footless one piece, zip-up, flannel pj's. Footless because they tend to wigle at night and I didn't want their feet to pull out of the elastic ankle footie and get all tangled.

I wouldn't use a blanket until they are at least over a year. I would just buy some extra thick flannel footed PJs. If you can't find any, then put on a onsie, flannel pjs and some socks and she should be fine. :)

The One Step Ahead catalog carries larger sleep sacks that they can stand in b/c the feet stick out.

Just move on to the footie pj's like other moms have suggested. The Gerber ones come in two packs and you can find them at Target. Combine this with a onsie or t-shirt underneath and your child is good to go. 72 is warm.

Try buying the thick fleece pajamas with the feet. My oldest is almost 3, never can keep a blanket on him and he still wears these and stays warm. They are always on sale at Children's Place.

Walmart had/has fleece footie PJs. Other places would also carry footie pajamas. They usually keep my little one nice and warm even if she kicks the blankets off during the night.

Good luck.

Halo makes "big kids" sleep sacks. I think that they go up to 4 or 5T. They sell them on the Target website or on the Halo website.

We also use fleece sheets which we got from Fleece Baby (they sell them on the Babycenter website). They are great sheets since they wash well and are safety sheets (meaning that they do not come off of the mattress). You can find less expensive velboa sheets in other places.

Pajamas with the footies attached are great. Children's Place has some that I loved when my kids were younger. They are clearing many of their winter pjs out right now and the sale on the pjs are great! I went last week. (They are 100% cotton.) So.. I am not sure if there would be any left. I would try because they are comfortable and warm. I'm sure there are other stores that sell the pjs with the footies/socks attached and with the zipper in the front. Maybe fleece type pjs would work, too. Old Navy might have them. Children's Place does, but I'm not sure if they do for babies. I would say that if she isn't crying, then she is probably comfortable with the temp. in the house.

One Step Ahead have the zipper blankets that you are talking about. I'm not sure if their large is bigger than the one you already have. (You can order online)

Footie Pj's like the ones Gerber sells. I don't know if they come in that small of size, but you can check. They are warm. My boys got really warm wearing those at night when they were younger and asked me to get them regular sweat pants. It seems that they were covered up by the blanket AND the footie jammies and they got too warm.lol

Just layer her in several layers of clothes and forget the blanket. My daughter does that too. Never stays under the blanket. I just put her in heavier pjs or double layer her so she'll be too hot almost if I put the cover on her anyway so she sleeps soundly and is warm without the blanket. Good luck!

honestly I have a 16 month old and he has not had a blanket covering him since he learned how to move around...every night he wears footed pj's that are pretty heavy and I always keep his door just cracked open so his room stays nice and warm.
