Sudden Bed Wetting - Riverhead,NY

My DD is 5 and has had one accident since she decided she was ready to sleep without night time protection. That was 2 years ago. So suddenly she has started wetting the bed every night. It started a few nights ago. Also she doesn't seem the least concerned or even embarrassed? So last night I made her wear a pullup and she didn't care at all. It is so weird. She is a very independent, precocious kind of child. I am completely stumped.

What can I do next?

I would talk to her pediatrician. I remember ours telling us that constant bedwetting in that age group is "normal" - but a sudden onset when the child normally doesn't wet could indicate something else is going on. It could be something as simple as cutting her fluids later in the day, or they may want to run a few tests to be sure. Call her doc - and good luck!

Sudden bedwetting is definitely cause for alarm. See the pedi very soon!

Has she had a big day? Gone to bed late? My son has been pullup free for a year, but has wet the bed twice. Both times he was exhausted and slept more deeply than usual.

One of the first signs of type 1 diabetes is bed wetting in a child that was previously trained.
