I had my last baby 10 years ago. Occasionally upon sqeezing a few drops of milk come out of my breasts. Is this normal? This happens only sometimes. Is this a symptom of some disease?
I lactated until my son was 3 until I got off the depo shot. I think this was the reason for the on going lactation. Just one option to consider if you were on birth control before you quit brestfeeding.
I continued to lactate after having my firstborn over five years ago and my OB told me it was a result of being one of those lucky few who, a coupla hundred years ago, would've been employed as a wetnurse. Apparently it's not common, but she said it wasn't completely rare either. Funny thing is...I never did breastfeed him.... :-)
no it is not normal for everyone. please go to a doctor and get a screening/test so you will know for sure. better to be safe than sorry. yes it is a sign of a more serious problem.
My guess is that this is perfectly normal. I have always been like this, even before becoming pregnant. I don't think it is actully considered lactating. Perhaps if encouraged, it could produce milk. Ask your doctor at your next visit.
my youngest is 3 1/2 & I have same issue, I've thought of getting my body to actively produce more milk so I can donate it to the local milkbank.

I had this happen a while after I had stopped breastfeeding my son. I was able to do the same thing and a milky/clear liquid would come out. It was pretty freaky! I talked to my doctor about it and had some bloodwork done to make sure my pituitary gland was functioning properly (this was the drs concern). Anyway, my bloodwork was fine, but it turns out I was on an antidepressant called Effexor and this was causing it. So, if you're on any medication, you might want to talk to your doctor about switching to a different brand. After I got off of that brand of medicine, it did go away and I've not had that problem since then. Good luck and take care!

my son is 9 i still to this day have milk it stays as long as the brest are stimulated. that can be done in many ways (sorry didn't mean to go there but it is true). it wll stop. if there is a bad smell or the discharge is not white or clear i would see the doc.
I would talk to your doctor ASAP. It could be normal, but check it out anyways. I had this a few years ago and they suspected a pituitary gland problem and did an MRI. Mine was fine, but it can be a symptom of something more serious. Please talk to your doctor, if nothing else to ease your mind. Best of Luck, C.
I have that same problem so I went to the ob-gyn and they sent me to a vasuclar surgeon. They did an u/s on my left breast and to find out it's called mammary duct ectascia. I have surgery next week to have the duct taken out and the doctor is doing a biopsy on it for cancer. I suggest you get to a doctor to make sure everything is ok. I am sooo glad I went!

I still lactate after 4 years. My mom still lactates after 20 years. So, you aren't the only one. My mom is a nurse and she isn't concerned. The only thing I can find with lactating for so long is related to thyroid. It might not hurt to have it checked out. Maybe to some research first to see if you have any other of the symptoms. If you don't, then I wouldn't worry. You might just ask your doctor on your next visit.

Let me start out by saying that I am not a medical doctor but I am in the medical field and I know a little bit about the Pathology of the breast. Any nipple discharge should be checked out by your OB/GYN. More than likely this is a benign process but an abnormal process needs to be ruled out.
