My 4 year old son will be starting VPK come August. Any suggestions on both public and private schools that you have had experiences with and would recommend. He is currently at All Kids Academy 1 day a week if your kids go there now what is the tuition for VPK and how do you feel about the education. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I live in the Land O'Lakes area. Thanks, J.

Hi J.. I strongly recommend Hand in Hand Academy. They are a private school that goes up to 5th grade and they are a VPK provider. They are located off of 41 and Lutz Lake Fern. You can check out their website www.handinhandacademy.com. Both of my children attend there. This is our second year there and we love it. Their approach to learning is amazing and they have a wonderful staff. They are available during the day for tours. Let me know if you need any other information.
Good luck!

My son will be attending St. James VPK. They have registration on Feb 24-26?? My 5 year old did the 4 year old 3 day this year and it was so sweet and nurturing. But, he should have gone more. St James does m-f 8:30 to 12pm for their VPK. You have to pay a couple hundred at registration (or spread out throughout the year) to make up for the extra hours that the state doesn't pay for but in that environment.....so sweet, loving, warm and firm, you'll wish he went all day. I'm C. Mobley, by the way....my four year old is Evan. Now, you may have to spend the night to get a community spot. Call Miss Tammie at the preschool office....she'll let you know how many spots there are available and if this is necessary. But it's FUN!! A night away from the kids?? Whoo Hooo!! Good luck!

My 4 year old is in the State's VPK (Voluntary Pre Kindergarden) program (5 days a week for 3 hours per day) and attends Backyard Bears in Wesley Chapel. I also live in Land O'Lakes.

There is NO cost for attending a State approved VPK program. It is supposed to be free at any public facility since it's funded by taxpayer money. A daycare charge can still be applied for before/after school care if you need it ... but you should absolutely not be paying for any education costs in the State VPK program.

Academy on the Lakes has a really nice program, it's a very safe campus and they have two schools, one for pre-k through elementary and then a middle/high school down the road. It's a uniformed private school and it's very well managed and the teachers are all properly educated. The kids have fun and learn manners too...it's nice.
