We're in the process of remodeling our kitchen....extended the wood floors into kitchen, replacing countertops with granite, repainting walls and cabinets, etc. But our biggest decision is with appliances----should we go with Stainless Steel or Black (we're phasing out white in our home)??? Would love to hear from those of you with Stainless appliances? How do you keep them clean from water spots, finger prints, etc????

Thanks!

What can I do next?

Stainless! We have a stainless fridge that is actually smudge-resistant, so that helps with cleanup.

Stainless is absolutely the way to go! The resale value of your home is greatly increased with stainless and it is no harder to keep clean than black appliances are. They sell stainless cleaner at Target, Wal-mart, Lowe's, Home Depot etc.

I love my black...it depends what kind of black you get....black refrigerators have different textures....the more texture doesn't show anything!!! That's what I have. I have light wood floor and antiqued light gold cabinets so the black looks good with mine. It would have to depend on your flooring, countertops, backspash, etc. have fun with all your choices!

We went with black in our house - I thought they wouldn't show fingerprints, etc as bad as stainless - was I wrong! Not only does the black show fingerprints, it seems to get dusty at the drop of a hat. If I had it to do over again, I'd get stainless. There's cleaning stuff made especially for stainless.

I would go with stainless. I have a fridge that is stainless that doesn't show fingerprints, its awesome. We currently have a black dishwasher, but just ordered a non-fingerprint stainless to replace that too. Good luck!

I would get Stainless. I use Weiman cleaner on it and it works great. May show more finger prints than the black. But I'm glad we have it!

Stainless! I had them in my old and my new homes. There are several types of cleaners, all pretty easy to use. It's no different from wiping down your old white ones with whatever you used. As also already mentioned, Stainless increases the resale value of your home. The only drawback I can think of with stainless is that big scratches cannot be repaired. They don't scratch easily, but if something happens, you have to live with it. (Or in my case sue the contractor who did it!)

Just in case this matters to you, most stainless steel fridges are not magnetic. I am pretty sure that the ones that don't show fingerprints are magnetic though. This mattered to me so I went with the black. I took a magnet to the store to see which ones were magnetic. Just FYI =)
