I so totally know what you are going through. My three-year old doesn't like to say goodnight either. She always has to tell me something just to keep me in the room with her. I have always read books to her before bedtime, but I started something new about 4months ago. She now has a cute little table lamp in her room, and at "bed book time" that light goes on, and her room light goes off. We read, say our prayers, and she is allowed to read a book to her baby doll for five minutes and I leave her alone with the lamp on. In five minutes I go back in the room, turn the light off and take the book away. She loves it. I hope that this idea can be of some help to you. Good luck.

Since your daughter doesn't take a nap at all, chances are by the end of the day she is over tired. When a child is over tired, it is hard to get them to go to sleep. Try getting your daughter to take a nap, even if its only 30 minutes. Don't give in! It may take several days, but she will learn that you mean what you say, and she will take her nap, and that will make getting her to bed at night easier. Good luck!

Hello K.,
Are you giving into her when it's bed time? CHildren are smarter than we think and can manipulate us even when we think they can't. Try a new routine. Read a book and lay with her for like 5 minutes. When it's time for to go to sleep by her self let her know that Mommy is not playing any games and that she needs to go to sleep. Stand your ground and don't give in. Trust me, she will test you and see how long it takes for you to give in. But remember don't give in. That will only make matters worse. It will probably take a few nights beofre she sees you are not playing but things will work out. Good luck and remember the number one tool...Don't give up or in!!

My Daughter is 6 and still puts me through this from time to time. I notice she does it more when she is over tired too. So what I have done with her in the past is had her lay down in bed with me so we could snuggle (for a nap). Normally within 5mins she is out and I'll slip away or I'll lay there and take a nap myself!! hehe At night if she doesn't want to go to sleep I just tell her she has to lay there quietly and she'll fall out in about a 1/2 hr or so. Just be consistant and don't play into her. I think a lot of it is a faze, just hang in there and stick to your guns!!

Good luck
