Moms, seriously I don't know what to do. I feel somewhat depressed that I am over 20 lbs heavier than i was just one year ago. The thing is I don't understand why. I had my daughter 2 years ago. I lost the weight within 8 months after giving birth to her and was back at my pre-pregnancy weight. I was ecstatic at that moment in time. Then 6 months after I started to notice I was packing weight on again. I did all I have done before. I ate lightly, didn't eat seconds and was knocking off most of the junk food and fried foods and still nothing. Since then I am only going up in weight. I feel like I can't even treat myself to one darn cookie anymore or it will turn into a pound. What in the world is going on? I know I am not the only one who has been in the situation even though I feel like it. I was on Hoodia for a couple of months but I didn't lose any weight, however I didn't gain weight either. Any advice?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I was happy to hear from my doctor that I do not have any thryoid issues after lab tests. But my doctor said it isn't uncommon for me to be carrying extra water. She said it seemed like I was and as many mamas on here brought up that it happens and our metabolism slows down. So for Christmas I asked my hubby not to give me anything but a year's membership at a gym. I also faithfully take my multivitamins, calcium & fat burners daily. Since February I have lost about 12 pounds. I have a little more to go but I am working my way back to being healthy. I have changed the way I eat by eating more fruits, vegetables, proteins, and cutting sugar almost completely out along with flour. I feel good that I have made these changes. In fact it has made such a difference that I no longer suffer from PMS cramps & irritability, although I still do get a little tired which I imagine can be normal.

Hi M.,
I am a Registered Dietitian and one thing that always helps is to keep a food journal. It can be a pain to write down every detail of each bite of food you eat but very beneficial. First it will give you a good indication of truly how much you are eating and second it will be very helpful to show your doctor or a dietitian. This gives them a great picture of what is happening and then they can determine how best to help you. The other thing you can do is have your thyroid checked. Hypothyroidism can lead to wait gain. It always helps to talk with someone about possible solutions etc. I would recommend keeping the food journal and then meeting with a dietitian. You can find a dietitian near you at www.eatright.org. On the top right of the page it will say "find a nutrition professional". Good luck and hang in there.

Hi M.,

Definitely consider having your thyroid checked. If you have it checked by a naturopathic doctor or a holistic doctor, they will make sure it's in the ideal active range. Also, have you looked into Lipo-B12 shots? They are an inexpensive, energy boosting, natural way to kick start weight loss.

Good luck!

I had the same problem after the birth of my third. I tried everything until I found Cinch. It is a easy way to lose the inches without losing muscle. I was so impressed (22 pound loss) I had my sister try it as well (she lost 25 pounds) as she then told her friend, who has lost over 40 pounds now. I love how I feel and it is so simple to follow. Check out the website: www.cinchplan.com/denisefriedl and see what you think. They have a 100% 30 day money back guarantee if you are unhappy with any of the products. Hope this helps. Take care.

Weight Watchers -- either the centers or on line. Personally, I am a private person (I would hate to stand up in front of anyone on a scale!) so I prefer the on line WW. You have to be dedicated to hold yourself accountable though. Its not easy. The other thing is drink TONS of water. Take your body weight and divide in half. Drink that many ounces in water.

Good luck!

Hi M., your story is SO familiar! Of course there are lots of ways to go about losing weight out there and it's really about finding what works for you. What I have done(and now just abou everyone I know has done!) is start with a nutritional cleanse. It's funny how many impurities our bodies can hold on to that leads to that extra weight gain. If you are interested in more info, please email me and I can tell you more. Good luck!

You may want to have your thyroid (sp) checked.
