Seeking Salon for Fearful Toddler

I have a 21 month old daughter that is terrified to get her hair cut. I am looking for some place to take her that maybe specialized in little girls hair cuts and that will have some patience for a screaming child if neccessary. We live in Denton, and have tried 1 haircut with no success at JCPenny's. So, at this point I'm willing to drive anywhere highly recommended. Thanks..

What can I do next?

"Sweet and Sassy" in Southlake Town Square. Girl's heaven with princess stuff to buy, bath gels to make. This place wasn't around when my daughter was little. Last summer, my 21-year-old girl was home from college & needed a haircut and I begged her to let me take her there. She rolled her eyes, but went along with it. They made an exception for an adult cut and made this mom happy. It was a great cut. Afterwards, you can walk past the fountain in the square and go get ice cream at "Milwaukee Joe's."

Katherine Szama at Main Street Salons is great! She specializes in kids cuts and has her own room. This might make your daughter feel more comfortable. She has done both of my kids cuts for 6 years! Her contact info is:

We took our son to the Toy's R Us in Frisco off Preston Rd. They did a great job. The kids get to sit in a car and watch a video such as Dora, etc, while they get their hair cut. My son had a blast and his hair looked great! Good Luck!

Cool Cuts 4 Kids - they have several locations, but the one we go to is in Flower Mound in the FM Town Center on 1171/Main Street. They are GREAT! They take appointments and walk-ins. They have the little cars to sit in and are able to watch a movie while they get their hair cut. There is a play area with a train table, as well as a video game area for the kiddos to get settled in before their haircut. My son is 3yrs old and he still hates to get a haircut ... but the ladies at this place really work with him (and his tantrum) to get it done in a pleasant manner. They are saints ;) Good luck!

I highly recommend Cool Cuts for Kids. My son went almost a year after his first hair cut it was so bad and he loves Cool Cuts for kids. It's worth it. My daughter goes there also.

Good luck! A.

Try hair diddle diddle in Flower Mound or Sweet and Sassy in Highland Village. My 3 year old loves both.

Go to Hair Diddle Diddle in Flower Mound. It is just for kids, is owned by a local family and the stylist are great!

We live in Denton, too, and we go to Cool Cuts 4 Kids in Flower Mound. It's in Parker's Square--take 35 to Main in Lewisville--go west on Main. Pretty easy to get to. Like the other mamas said, they can put in a DVD to distract her. It's worked well for us.

Try Sweet and Sassy in Highland Village. It is a salon for girls. Even does mini manis and pedis. I took my daughter there and let her have a mini mani and pedi and she was relaxed enough to allow them to cut her hair. And she loved the attention.

I would think that any place geared for small kids would be a good place to go. We've gone to Cool Cuts in Toys R Us in Frisco, and they're very patient with my screaming son. In fact, they helped calm him down to where he was comfortable enough with getting his hair cut that I now can do it at home. Cool Cuts pops in a DVD of the kid's choice and gives them a sucker, which automatically helps soothe the kid. I now do the same thing at home. If you're brave enough, maybe consider getting a hair cut kid (you can get them at Wal-Mart for around $30) and watch some hair cutting videos on YouTube to let you know how to give a good hair cut.
