I was wondering if there are any moms around that do beauty pageants. I have a 5 month old and would like to start doing pageants because I think that would be fun. I was just needing some advice.

What can I do next?

Good Morning S.. My oldest daughter is now 8 and she was in pageants from about 3 months until about 6. At 6 the whole pageant scene changed into putting lots of make-up on the kids and making them into little adults and I pulled her out. She still has all her trophies and never failed to pull 1st prize or twice she got 2nd prize. Just a few things I was told, most pageants have rules listed, but if they are in diapers, they must have frillys to cover the diapers under their dresses, must have socks NOT tights or panty hose, curls in thier hair or at least matching bright bows should be in their hair if at all possible. Until she walks, you will carry her to the 3-5 points on the stage (they'll be glad to tell you where, so don't worry). You will most likely have a photo side also, so put your photos on a mat and make them not all posed perfectly (like not all Olsen Mills or whatever) example, maybe a photo with her bright eyed staring at bubbles around her or a soft sleeping picture. etc. Most the dresses you can either buy off line (normally cheaper and you can get matching socks also that way) or some local stores offer them for about $100-$150.

Good luck with your little beauty!! God Bless.

D.

I entered my son in a pageant and he actually won!! It was fun but for us it was just a one time thing. The name of the group we did it with is Crescent City Pageantry. The have a website and they are constantly having pageants throughout the year. http://www.crescentcitypageantry.com/ Check them out. The site has pics of the pageants and upcoming events.

Sunburst Pageants are really well known and they have several throughout the year. I have to agree with the other responses though. Its not just about the beauty... its more the money. I just tell you this so you don't get your heart broke. And a lot of the other moms are wicked out there that have their daughters in pageants. I just put my two year old in her first one a few weeks ago and I don't think we will be doing any more. She did well and placed 3rd and got Prettiest Eyes but the whole thing just really irritated me.

If you do decide to do it however, look on ebay for dresses. They have stores listed through there and you can get some beautiful new dresses at very reasonable prices!

There is a website that tells you about all the pageants in the area going on, i believe it's arkansaspageant.com or something like that. Just type that in the search thing and it should pull it up. I just entered my two year old in her first one last weekend. Let's just say I don't think we'll be doing that often. It's more like a sporting event than a pageant. But it was fun.

Hi S.!

My daughter who is now almost 8 started pageants when she was about 1.5 yrs old. We loved them. That was our special bonding time together. I posted a website for you. This is probably the most popular site for Arkansas and upcoming pageants. Hope this helps and if you have any questions feel free to get ahold of me. I have also judged and directed in the past. I have other resources available if needed..

Hi S.,
The one and only pagent I have been able to get my daughter into was posted in the White River Shopper. This one event confirmed my suspicions about pagents. Its not about how pretty your baby is, its about how much money you spend on their dress, socks, fake hair and how much make up you put on them. I saw this about a month ago when I entered my daughter (2) in the Holiday of Lights Pagent. Im not just saying this because I am biased but my daughter is very pretty. The children who won, were not so. The one who got the crown, she was throwing a tantrum on stage when she and her mom did their walk through. Just keep in mind that these pagents arn't fair, nor are they based on anything other than money. If you expect to win a pagent, you better have a lot of money, and you better know at least one of the judges.
