Seeking Moms in Cherokee County

I live in Woodstock..not too far from you. We have a great MOMs Club in Cherokee County that I joined about 6 months ago. I have a 22 month old.
The MOM's club is full of stay at home moms/and moms who work part time and have time during the week for activities and playdates. And we have moms of all ages! I'm 37...there are some young ones, but alot of us first time older moms too.

The club is split up into two division North and South Woodstock...since you live in Holly Springs I'm not which you would belong too. Why don't you email me at ____@____.com and I can get more info to you.

It's an amazing organizing full of other moms that have lots of info about the area and activities for the kids and preschool info...etc.

This is Barbara (deaffmommie) on many of the lists I follow... :o) I LOVE it that you want to help the Deaf/deaf/HoH community. We NEED more interps!

Some info about me. I am 44 yrs old and I have one in college, who will be 24 yrs old Tuesday and a 12 yr old who is in 6th grade... and I want MORE! I hope to adopt from China as soon as I finish school. and the rules change again to allow single adoptions.

So, being late deafened has thrown me out of the "loop" unless folks are really patient with my deafness... I am looking for more new friends as most of my old ones fell away because of the hearing loss...

Where are you located in Georgia. I am just north of Atlanta.

Welcome to the fabulous 40's club...I too am 43, the mother two young boy's (almost 4 and 6), three teens my girls are 15 & 17), and a 20 yr old. I was raised in Orange County (City of Orange) and have been living here for the past ten years. We love it here, but I often miss the fond memories and friends I've left behind in CA and silly things like JACK in the box! Oh, to have one here...hmm, yum!

I don't live in Cherokee Co. but I am a stone throw away from the county line in Kennesaw (575 off exit 4).

Hi E.! My name is also E. (but go by B.) and I'm also 43 and moved to Georgia 4 years ago and have a 3 1/2 year old! Due to a male fertility issue I had to go through 4 IVF's to have my gorgeous son and I'm trying to decide whether to go for another but worried now about my age although I feel so YOUNG! Oh darn, I just realized you live in Cherokee County, I live in Fulton, wonder how far we are from each other? I hang out with a lot of Mom's in mid to late 30's w/kids my age and love it! I too am an older Mom, having just turned 40. I've only been a mom for just over three months to a beautiful little 13 month old girl adopted from China. We live in Canton and would love to find a play group close to us. We've only lived in Canton for a couple of years so we're fairly new here too, as well this being my first post. You are certainly not old! But you are funny. I would love to get together with you. I am not far from Holly Springs (I live in Canton) and am in my 30's with two children who are 13 and 1. Dear E., I know how you feel. I am a first time Mom and I'm almost 38. I have one son who is 15 months. Just a side note. I took a sign language course a few years ago. I don't remember a lot. But I am teaching a few things to my son to help us communicate. Small world. Welcome to Georgia! I also went on a business trip with my husband in 2001 to San Diego---loved it! Hello. I'm old too. I know how you feel. I have a 7 year old, but am remarrying in two months and we are hoping to get pregnant right away. So, God willing, I will also, be in your situation. I am currently in the Woodstock area and always have room for more friends.

You are hilarious! Most of my friends are in their late 30s and early 40s, I was beginning to think that I'm odd for being younger. I'm 32 and a mother of an awesome 4 1/2 year old girl. Still, if you want, (if I'm not too young) we could meet up and get our kids together and see if we work out... (I could even bring some "old" friends with me.) I moved here in 1992 from southern California.

I took sign language for a while and would love to get back into it. I have a funny/notsofunny story about that...

Hi from a fellow SoCaler! I moved here from LA (raised in OC) 10 years ago and trying to get back to CA...I live in Johns Creek, so unfortunately I can't get our kids together.
I'm a member of my local MOMS Club-when I joined a few years ago, we were a big club. We're struggling now, but I still have a few good friends from it. Check out www.MOMSclub.org for your chapter. I've also met moms through my oldest son's pre-school and through his other activities like The Little Gym (I've heard Gymboree is good for meeting other moms, too). He's also in a Mother's Morning Out program at our church, so there are a lot of moms there. My neighborhood also has a playgroup that gets together every week. Good luck! ~S.

You are not OLD!!! I have a feeling you'll find many people to respond that want to hang out with you.

Sorry to say I can't help you too much on the social front since I live in Alpharetta (wish you lived here, I'd introduce you to many people...I'm 42 yo).

On the other hand, my good friend is a sign language interpreter and has been one for a long time. She may be a good person to know for networking and learning. She is a sweetheart, lives in Alpharetta, has 2 girls (one about 7 yo, other about 8 yo, I think).

By the way, my husband and I moved here from Los Angeles 9 years ago and love it here (we have 2 kids, 6 yo boy and 9 yo girl). Give it a little while, you'll love it here.

One suggestion, if you can get a babysitter, try joining a tennis league...you'll meet tons of people of all ages with all ages of kids.

I am 41 and have a seven year old. I moved here in 1988 from upstate NY and still have the same problem meeting people. I just moved to Marietta in September and really don't know anyone yet. I have signed my son up for baseball this spring so hopefully that may open a few doors. I have also voluntered for a project with my sons school.
I can't even find kids for my son to play with.
