Hi Ladies-
I'm looking for a little feedback about a situation I had with a Pampered Chef party I hosted.

I put a lot of work into getting orders from famnily and friends who couldn't attend the party so that i could maximize my host benefits. After I placed my order with my consultant, I got an email from her 2 days later saying that she ordered some things for her so she could "take advantage of the 30% off." (the 30% off is the level I got to because of the sales from my guests)

Normally, I wouldn't care because the 30% off was on an unlimited amount of things, and it didn't affect my purchases. I just thought it was weird about the way that it happened/was told to me. When I got my sales slips in the mail, i noticed she added another person's name as my "co-host"... The same person that she ordered her items under. Is this so she could get the 30% off, but have it on a separate sales slip and not mine? The whole thing just seemed a little weird and I'm not sure how to approach it with her. It disappointed me more because I think the whole order was delayed two days by her adding her own things.

I guess my bottom line question is, Is this something consultants do on a regular basis, and if so, how do you approach it with a host. Like I said, I',m not saying I didn't want her to use the discount, I just feel weird about how it all happened. Any advice/thoughts? Thanks a bunch!

What can I do next?

It doesn't sound right to me either. Perhaps you could call the actual company and ask if this appropriate. After you get your things!

Hi S.-I have been in direct sales for 12 years and have business associates and 2 friends that are pampered chef consultants and I have never heard of them doing that. She should have asked and been totally upfront with you regarding what she did. I have piggybacked orders on for my hosts from random orders that I get or other events to boost their host percentage but that is entirely for their benefit.

So yes I think that is unusual. If it makes you uncomfortable then I would definitely address it.

Honestly, it is a little strange that she didn't ask you in advance if it was OK. I use to be a consultant and would do the same things but would ask first. If you feel weird about it, and it would make you feel better, you could mention to her that you would of appreciated a phone call before she did it.

She's cheating Pampered Chef and benefitting from it. I'de report her to them. You could get a phone # from the phone operator. They're located on Rohlwing Rd. in the Itaska area.

I think it's pretty typical. In this economy especially....

I have seen this before....and actually, it may have helped not only the other woman, but you. There are "minimum" orders that are required from the company to allow the discounts. Sometimes a hostess actually falls just barely below this minimum....by adding the additional small items it pushes the sale up and everyone wins.

I do not think that your situation was handled in the appropriate manner. The reason she put it in as a co-host wsa to keep the receipt separate. She had to put it under another person's name - not hers, because cons. according to our company policies are not paid commission on what is purchased on a host invoice - even if she hosted her own party. We (as cons.) receive a 20-40% discount on merchandise and pay the normal show shipping rate.

What I don't understand is her not asking permission first before she put it on the show. Also, in April she can purchase one of anything at 40% off and have it ship directly to her home. You worked hard to get those sales to maximize your host benefits. I am sorry that your show was handled in this manner. If you have more questions, email me directly and I can give you more specific info. (such as when the show was submitted, etc.)
