Seeking Good School District

I am planning to relocate to the suburbs (Chester or Montgomery county) within the next year. My daughter is currently in day care, so I am looking for day care within the area, but I am trying to decide on a good school district to get into in general. Any feedback on the school systems in those counties would be very much appreciated.

What can I do next?

Hi K.,

We moved to the Methacton School District about 2 years ago and the elementary schools are wonderful. My step-daughter goes to Eagleville Elementary. I think there are two other elementary schools within the district. The surrounding towns are Eagleville, Audubon, and Worcester. They are all good areas, although some can be a little expensive if you're buying. Hope this helps...

Not sure about recommendations, but I can tell you to stay away from Abington. Taxes are ridiculous, and I, for one, was totally unhappy with the school district. Abington has a good reputation for schools, but for the life of me, I don't know why. I've lived here 23 years and love the community, but not happy with schools. I've heard good things about Springfield (MontCo), Upper Dublin and Upper Moreland, but I have no personal experience. Good luck!

Do you know what sections or areas of these counties you're interested in? That covers a huge area!

Hi K.,
Lower Merion Township in Montgomery County has an excellent school system! I moved to this area 4 years ago and I'm really happy here. We also have an active Mom's Connection group. I'd be happy to tell you more, just email me.

hi K.-
i have to rush because i'm at work, but just wanted to say that i was in your same situation, did a bunch of research, and decided upon springfield township in montgomery county. i moved to wyndmoor for the school district: it seemed like the best combination of good district with reasonable taxes that i could find. (i looked at houses in elkins park, abington, etc., but couldn't afford the taxes.)

anyway, i wish you luck. i found it overwhelming and difficult, but we got thru it, and now we're getting to know our new neighborhood.

best wishes,
K. (single mom to son (6) and daughter (4)) :-)
