We're looking to relocate to the Greatwood area very soon, and would like to get some feedback on activities for toddlers ages 3 & 1.5 yrs, information on good pre-schools in the area, and any moms groups or playgroups in the vicinity.
Also would like to get any feedback in terms of Sweetwater vs. Greatwood as far as toddler friendly activiites and school systems.
Many thanks in advance for any feedback.

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for the very useful information! Moving with 2 small children is challenging enough, and starting fresh in a new city can be daunting. You gave me some wonderful ideas. Thanks again, and i will use this forum again for more information.

Dear Amberlin,

Are you moving to Greatwood and only wants schools that are in Greatwood. I know of a Childtime that is great and a Kids R Kids that is great but they are close to Greatwood but not in it.

Are you ever looking to do something as a career from home? It just seems that with your financial background you might like to have a home based business as your career, especially if it could benefit your kids. I am a manager with Discovery Toys so I get to work with lots of schools and know lots about many of them.

I actually live in Greatwood and love it! There are 3 daycares in Greatwood....a Kindercare (where my daughter currently attends), a Primrose (which I didn't like the staff there when I visited), and a Montessori school (where I think I'm going to switch my daughter to once she is old enough to go there (18 months)....I haven't visited this school yet, so I will need to do that before I move her as well).

As far as activities....there is a Little Gym and a Gymboree in Missouri City which is a good 15 or 20 minute drive from Greatwood. My daughter and I go to a Gymboree class only because their schedule fit our schedule better (I work 3 days a week). I know that libraries in the area offer toddler times.....but they are all in the middle of the week so that is out for us, but since you don't work it could be a great thing to do with your kids! I have heard that kids really enjoy it.

Greatwood has 2 or 3 different pools and many playgrounds for kids to play on. I don't know anything about the Sweetwater area neighborhoods, so I can't help you there.

And if you have never lived in Texas....just get ready for the heat and humidity!!!! : ) I'm sure you'll love it here.

Good luck in your move.

The Early Learning Program at the Club at New Territory is fantastic. My daughter went there last year and I am so glad she did. The teachers there are all adults who have had young children, some are actually certified teachers who have decided to teach preschool instead of grade school. The ciriculum is great, the atmosphere is awesome, and the kids have a great time. They run 9-2, 2 days a week for 2 year olds, and I think it is 3 days a week for 3 yr olds and 4 days a week for 4 year olds. I am not positive on that though.

Anyway, it is fantastic, the price is great, and it is really close to greatwood. Their number is ###-###-####.

Good luck!
