Hi all.

Not sure if this exists, but I've recently become pregnant again and am looking for an OB/Gyn who is into natural childbirth. In other words, I'd like a doc who doesn't typically do things like strip membranes, break water, induce labor if you are past due date, etc. I'm not completely against artificial measures to start labor if there is a problem (for example pre-eclampsia), but I'd prefer someone who prefers normal delivery over assisted. (I'm also not against pain medication - I had it before.) Any one have a good experience with a doc in the Waukesha, WI area?

What can I do next?

Dr. Trebian is wonderful, however she is in Milwaukee and does her deliveries at Columbia St. Marys on the east side. I live in Muskego and started seeing her at the end of my first trimester. It was a little drive, but definately worth it. She is very down to earth, and up to date. I was a very high strung pregnant person and she just kept me in line and answered all my questions, she always took time with me and really is about letting nature take its course. As far as I know she does all her own deliveries and her practice is only hers. She is the only OB you will see. FYI in case you would be concerned about the drive to the hospital when you are in labor, I started labor at 8:00 a.m. at my house in Muskego and delivered at 11:00 a.m. at the hospital. Everything went very quickly and she was there for me. I was also very concerned about having an episiotomy and had talked to her about it ahead of time that I really did not want one and she was in total agreeance...I can't say enough wonderful things about her. I am sure you would like her. Good luck with whatever you decide. A.

I recommend you look for a CNM. That's short for Certified Nurse Midwife. CNM's are trained in obstetrics, but differ philosophically from ob's. You are much more likely to find a Midwife inclined to help you have the kind of birthing experience you want, and avoid excessive interventions unless neccesary. Unlike Lay Midwives, CNM's don't generally do home births, and tend to work in hospitals and are highly educated.

I absolutely loved her! She doesn't try to push her opinion on you, she hears what you would like and does her best to make sure that is how your delivery will go. She had great energy and is fantastic.
My delivery didn't go as I had wanted due to a pre-eclampsia scare, but she still worked with me to make it as comfortable for me as possible. She made sure I was ok with everything. She delivers at Waukesha Memorial. The entire staff there was wonderful.
Good luck.

Hi H.,
I gave birth in Waukesha for both my kids. Though Dr. Epperson was my doc she wasn't working either time I gave birth. She's a good doc but very busy. I just wanted to let you know that with my daughter I had Dr. Huong (wong) and he was very aggressive and I didn't agree with what he wanted but for my son, I had Dr. Martinelli. She was great! She understood what I wanted and was honest and informative. Though I wanted an epideral..it didn't happen in time. (I went from 5-10 in 45 minutes.) I'm not sure what clinic she is located in but I would really recommend her if you're looking for a doc. Good luck!
