Seeking an Excellent Montessori School

Does anyone have a child attending a montessori school that they love? I am looking for a montessori school in either Atlanta, Smyrna, Cumming or near Emory University. If anyone has any experience with a school (good or bad), then please share! There are so many to choose from, and I want to get a jump on it, since I have a lot of research to do, and I know there are often waiting lists for these schools. Thank you for your help!

What can I do next?

Arbor Montessori School on LaVista Rd in Atlanta. I'm a 33 yr old new mom, but I graduated from Arbor back in the day, and my twin brothers (12 years my junior) attended pre-school through 5th grade. My 4-6 grade teacher is still there (Betty Litsey) and I correspond with her every year at Christmas. It was a WONDERFUL experience, and I can't say enough good things about Arbor and the teachers. One of my friends recently became certified to be a Montessori teacher. She's struggling to find a job because in her opinion "Arbor is the only real Montessori school in Atlanta" and they don't currently have any openings. Good luck!

Casa Montessori, near the Big Chicken in Marietta is supposed to be fabulous. Several of my friends have their children there and rave about it. And, I might add, they've got their kids there beyond preschool, so I think that's a significant thing, that they're willing to go further than kindergarten in this particular school. Just make sure any one you look at is part of AMI.

My friend has had her daughter at Arbor Montessori, I think it is in the Emory Area. She started when she was 3 and is now turning 7 this year. I hear it is a wonderful program and it is amazing how brilliant and well behaved those children are. I think there is a waiting list (but don't get discouraged, just call!), I think it is one of the well respected Montessori programs closer intown.

Good luck!

I have been extremely happy at Casa Montessori on Powers Ferry Road in Marietta. I have had two children go to that school. It is wonderful.

Hey Candice,

My son attended Cover Bridge Montessori in Smyrna off of Hurt Road. We really enjoyed it while he was there. The only reason why I moved him (at age 4) was because he needed more structure. He developed SOCIALLY well but academically he was lacking. I am glad that he attended the school because it helped him in being independent. My girlfriend sent her 2 daughters there and now she has one that goes there now.

I wish you all of the best.
