Seeking a Good Chiropractor for My 4 Month Old

My four month old daughter has been having health problems since birth- constipation, acid reflux, slow weight gain and then loosing weight, and a protein allergy. We have done TONS of test but they have all come back normal. No one can explain why she is failing to gain weight and is in so much pain. She is on two medications and a hypoallergenic formula and she is doing only a little better. I do not want to do anymore tests. I would also like her off the meds. I am seeking other alternatives to get her better. I remember a post a couple months back where someone suggested a chiropractor and told the person what to look for, to get a great chiropractor for an infant. I tried to search for it and could not find it. Any SAFE suggestions are welcome! I hold her 22 hours a day and even sleep in a recliner hold her up so that she can keep her formula down. I am nervous taking her to a chiropractor but think this may be what we need she had a very traumatic birth and maybe something is not aligned right. I live in the North West Valley but I am willing to travel to get a good Chiropractor. Thanks

What can I do next?

J.,
I am a former gymnast and had injuries I didn't even know about, but when I started getting constant headaches, I tried everything to figure it out (physical therapy, check my eyes, chiropractor, etc.). Chiropractic worked, but only at first, and then I wasn't seeing as big of a difference...until my then future mother-in-law paid for me to see a special kind of chiropractor called "Gonstead". Gonstead is a more precise form of chiropractic (and more difficult to do) that only adjusts the single vertebra that is causing the nerve/bodily problems. You can read about it at Gonstead.com - there are three highlighted blue links at the bottom that tell how it's different. Also, you can find chiropractors in your area that practice the Gonstead method. But...I'm going to tell you up front that we have been very, very pleased with Dr. Lara (male). He teaches the method and is very precise and calculated on how he will approach your situation. He has integrity, is a Christian, and if you don't need an adjustment, he will leave you as is and send you out at no charge. He also has 3 kids and a wife who is a certified Gonstead chiropractor, but she seems to be mostly the nutrition specialist right now. There are no massages or physical therapy, but he is VERY skilled at what he does, and will answer any questions you have for him. If you just mention my name - R. Thompson - you can get a free consultation. Then, you can also ask him his experience with infants (or you can just call on the phone and ask - or email him - he answers emails from his website, I believe).

Here's the website for the Dr. Lara's contact page: http://www.gonsteadchiroaz.com/contact.htm

By the way, I think Dr. Van Metre (mentioned by someone else) might also be a Gonstead Chiropractor). I have not been to him, but I like Dr. Lara because I feel safe that he cares and has so much experience, especially with teaching the method. But, you can always find out if Van Metre is Gonstead by checking for him on the Gonstead.com website or calling him.

I hope that helps. Feel free to email me with any questions, as I have been through a long process with chiropractic and ups and downs in my body, etc.

Bless you!

Hello, that sounds pretty rough. Instead of a chiropractor you could try a treatment of cranial sacral balancing. It is very subtle and gentle but you will get profound results. Call the school called Healing Arts Connections and they have some amazing practitioners or they can refer you to someone. phone is ###-###-####.
You wont find anyone else that is more caring and more knowledgable than the owner Marsha Craven.

Dr. Shawn Warwick.... ###-###-####. He is the absolute best. He can do energetic cranials on your daughter, he can check all that you feed her to make sure it is agreeing with her. He is near old town scottsdale, but is well worth any drive. I used to drive out here from California to see him. He has good results with people with difficult health issues who haven't had success elsewhere. I've taken my daughter to him since birth. He is extremely gifted and is like no other. I can't recommend him more highly.

And he usually works on kids under age 3 for free. You may have to pay the first time though. Babies respond very well to his type of work. GO!!!
(ps. I don't work for him or make anything from telling you this)

You have received some wonderful answers. I am a Newborn Care Specialist and my client recently took her son to Steve Davidson on Bethany Home and 15th Ave (I believe) He was amazing. He is an Osteopath and does everthing natural, maniputations, homeopathy etc. I do not know where you are located but I think if you just choose someone who is close to you from the suggestions you will do great.

Good luck

Hello J.,
I have 4 boys, the youngest is actually 4 months old too. My husband is a great chiropractor and he is fantastic with children and babies. I trust him anyway. :) He is in Phoenix though. I am not sure how far you want to travel. His name is Dr. Jon Peterson. His website is www.spinetolife.com and his office phone # is ###-###-####. Chiropractic is very gentle for babies, so don't be worried at all. It makes a difference! I hope all goes well with your sweet baby. It sounds so challenging. I can't imagine being in your situation. God bless you. -S.
