I'm looking for a place in Michigan to go for a scrapbooking weekend sometime from March-June. Let me know if you know of any places. I have never done a scrapbooking weekend and would really love to just get away and get some things done! I am so behind!!!

What can I do next?

I see you are in Royal Oak. Contact the Salvation Army in Royal Oak, they have a scrapbooking group there (and I am sure they welcome newcomers) as not only do they have monthly events, but the Salvation Army has a semi-annual scrapbooking retreat in March and October. I run the scrapbooking group out of Plymouth so that's how I know. It might be too late for the March one, but you could call them and see.

I don't know of any specific places, but are you going alone or with a group? My first thought was a nicer hotel. Maybe some type of suite that has a kitchenette and table (snacks are required for scrapbooking parties :). Maybe the hotel has folding tables you can use or rent if the one in the room is not big enough. Maybe a hotel with a pool and/or work out facilities so you can take a break and move. When I scrapbooked, after a couple hours, my back hurt from being hunched over and I just needed a break, so someplace that offers that break would be good.

Another idea - nix the scrapbooking and do photobooks - sites like Shutterfly let you completely customize pages just like a scrapbook with tons of "stickers", backgrounds, borders, text boxes etc. If you have a scanner you can get in a lot of those non-picture things that make scrapbooks so great. Photobooks are quicker, easier and WAY less expensive.

Good luck and have fun!

Scrapbooking weekends are the BEST! I get together with 6 of my best friends twice a year and we scrapbook from Friday until Sunday. We rent a place that is a summer camp through a Lutheran organization. We bring in our own food and bedding and scrap in our jammies/bra optional!

The best way to find groups like this are to start in a scrapbook store doing their weekend crops. You meet people, start making scrapbooking friends and before long, are planning a scrapping weekend.

The weekend is not about the scrapbooking...(well, maybe a little bit) but more about the fellowship of spending time with other women, telling stories, sharing pictures, eating, problem solving, napping if you want to, sharing supplies, some tears, mostly peeing-your-pants laughing, and making memories!

Good luck in your search!
