Scrapbooking Ideas?

Hey moms. I am way behind on this but I am finally going to get started on scrapbooking for me kids (2 and 4 yrs old). I'm not really into the whole scrapbooking thing so I'm actually just going to do the books online and have them printed, which means it won't be a book that I can keep adding to. Would you do one book for each year or maybe do a few years together in one book? Also, what about holidays, like Christmas? Do you have separate books for your holidays or do you just put them all in with your other stuff? Any tips and ideas would be appreciated!

Thanks,
K.

Hi K.,

The way I do my scrapbooking is I have a B-day album for each of my children & each year after their parties I just add to that one. Instead of one for each year, I just have one for all their b-days. Then they both have one a piece of just general stuff & cute stuff. We then have seperate albums for vacations, for holidays & family stuff. I really enjoy it. I do however take & do a 2 page layout of each big event to stick in their albums & that way they don't say anything when they get older. But for the most part they have seperate albums & then we have one album for major milestones. There are several different softwares out there that you can make a digital scrapbook with & you can continue to add to them. I hope you have as much fun as I have. Good Luck!!!

Honestly, if you do a scrapbook for every year, you will end up with 18 scrapbooks per child, plus, any that you may want to keep of yourself as well... that's a LOT of space to store them, money, and books to look through.

What I do, is put my main photos in a regular photo album that can hold large quantities, and I select special photos from events, holidays or just cute times to actually scrapbook.

That way, I will have maybe one album for every 4 years or so.

I did a separate book for each child's first year of life, I have pictures set aside for a dedicated Christmas album (but haven't put it together yet!), then everything else is an annual family album put together in loose chronology based on events like holidays and birthdays.

You actually have a couple of options....

with Heritage Makers (I'm a rep but basically just do it for myself so that I have the consultant discount)... you can do all of the above.. have them made into books -- this is the most expensive option I believe

OR

you can do "digital scrapbooking" and actually have 12x12 or 10x10 pages printed out and put them in scrapbook that you CAN add to...

Have you checked into doing it online? Apple has a website that you can actually have a professional-looking book printed-- it's hard-bound and has glossy pages. You just go online, choose templates and then add your photos and text. The finished books are gorgeous! Plus, they take up a lot less room on your shelf. They run around $50-- which sounds expensive, until you compare it to how much you'd actually spend on scrapbooking materials. If you don't have a Mac computer, I'll bet there are sites that use PCs. Good luck!

Well K. like April said do digital scrapbooking since all your pictures are on the computer anyway. You can do all of these above, all are great way to scrap. I personally have a book for each child from birth to present day. I add any where form one to two pages in their books a day. I record almost every thing Funny faces , Coloring on my walls, I scrap pretty much everything. I would also suggest you go to scrapbook.com, or scrapjazz.com to get some theme ideas and also page ideas for your family events.

personally for my kids i am doing a book (i did a creative memories type book) for their baby years which covers newborn thru 1-2 yrs (depending on when they were born i tried to include one of each holiday when they were actually a little into it...like if they were itty bitty during their first halloween i would go to the next one too) & then i did a toddler book after their baby book until they start school....then we have a family book, there's not much in it, i just try to put in major holidays or vacations, & family pics
