Scared!

I've had several colposcopies and biopsies from abnormal paps over the past few years and it's not so bad, but i know what you mean about being scared... it is so scary any time it includes "cancer"! The colposcopy isn't any worse than a regular exam and pap test, the biopsy part pinches a bit and they normally put gross stuff in there to stop the bleeding, but it's not so bad...
and in most cases the results show up to be ok, it usually means HPV and that often clears up on its own. I honestly know soooo many women who have had this happen and most have nothing come out of it... abnormal and precancerous cells are so common and RARELY form into cancer. And you're definitlely not alone, this is so much more common than most people realize.

In my case i did end up having very aggressive cervical cancer (which is even rarer that the slower moving cervical cancer) after a few years of monitoring precancerous cells... but that's a whole other loooong and ongoing story lol. My biggest advice is to be really good with all follow-ups that the doctor recommends.

I went through this too, and the colposcopy isn't bad, except that they gave me a medication (a local anesthesia I think, it was 2 1/2 yrs ago) and didn't tell me that it would make me anxious. I am a very mellow person, but I thought I was having a panic attack on the table! It was awful, I left shaking and crying and generally freaking out. So, just check with them beforehand as to what they're going to use. If I had known to be on the lookout, I wouldn't have freaked out, but I was a mess the whole day. Thank God my husband drove me. I told the Doc about it at my follow up, and he said it was just the medicine. UGH!

Sounds like HPV to me. Went through same thing. Scary but wasnt that bad. None of the procedures hurt, just one little prick for the knumbing and thats is. Make sure you do all your appts. and follow ups. Look it up online HPV, there are several different versions of, dont let that scare you either, because I didnt have any of the stuff they were talking about, just the adnormal paps. This test is so new that when you did the last one they didnt test for it. Hope all works out ok and relax ask your doctor to explain it better.

First things first. DO NOT BE AFRAID! A Colpscopy sounds scary but in all honesty is far from scarey. Positive thing about this whole situation is they found it before it actually became cancerous. Im 33 and had my first abnormal papsmear in July of 2006, and I was just like you. Loaded with questions and afraid. That abnormal papsmear was followed up by a Colposcopy and a Biopsy. My Biopsy results came back as precancerous cells. There are certain procedures that they can do to get rid of those cells. They have Cryotherapy which is what I had, they also have a Leep procedure and I believe there is one more. On another note you should be tested for HPV! This was the second request that I read about this. You are doing all of the right things. My neighbor is going through tough times she has colon cancer. But the most important thing is to take care of it right away. This scares me to many people that I know are going through these scares and then acutally have the disease. These are young people. I dont know how much you know about hypnosis but there has been many studies on how hypnosis helps put cancer in remission.

8+ years ago when I was pregnant with my first child I had a PAP come back the same way. I had the colposcopy and the biopsy done. I was lucky as mine came back negative. For the colposcopy they will probably spray white vinegar inside you to clean the area and that does burn quite a bit. The burning sensation doesn't last long, but long enough so that you don't feel the biopsy. Maybe yours will come back negative too. Better to catch it now if it is anything. I've been told that being pregnant can make a PAP come back positive. So I'm sure all the postpartum hormones could do that as well. Good luck!
