Safe Sippy Cup-plastic Chemicals?
I am looking for a safe sippy cup. With all the studies about the harmful chemicals in bottles... I am concerned about the safety of plastic sippy cups. I used Advent bottles and wish I had THROWN them the first time I heard about the study! I breast feed and pumped into hard plastic Gerber bottles for one year -- and feel a bit sick about it. I currently use the Advent sippy cups (which are NOT clear plastic). I saw the Born Free sippies in at Babie's R' US... and they are $10 each. Any suggestions? My twins are now one year old. Maybe it is time they got an old fashioned cup.. but sippies are so convienent.

Most Nuby sippy cups are BPA free and are way cheaper than Born Free.

The best I can find is the Klean Kanteen. They are food grade stainless steel, and can come with a sippy top. They have no plastic inside the bottle, unlike the Sigg bottles.

What kind of cup are you going to give them? Unless it's glass, pottery or correll you'll have the same issue. I don't know what the answer is.

If you can squeeze the cup with your hand, it is not polycarbonate and will not release BPA. If it is hard plastic, like Nalgene or Avent bottles, then it is made out of polycarbonate. The color (or lack thereof) has nothing to do with it. The studies are very mixed on BPA. Despite that, the risk is still minimal. Just think of some of the early plastic materials that our parents used on us and what we know about those now!
