Hi, I'm thinking of having my son's 6th birthday party at Pump It Up. I was just wondering, have you ever gone to a party there? If so, what did you think? Did your child have fun?

And has anyone been the host of a party there? How was your experience? Was the staff as helpful as they say they are on their site? And did you tip them? Thanks in advance.

Which location are you thinking about having the party? I attended a birthday party there for my 2 year old nephew and the facility was fine, but my 2 year old daughter had a fire extinguisher fall on her right foot! The fire extinguisher was not properly affixed to the wall. She had 3 broken bones in her tiny right foot! In any case, it's been over a year and my daughter still has problems with her right foot. To make matter worse, the owner of the location refused to pay for any of the medical charges. I wouldn't have a party there nor attend a party there again, but only in that location. They are franchised so each location has different owners.

Hi M.,

My sister had her son's birthday party there. It was great. The staff was really nice and well organized. Her son who was 4 years old had the time of his life. We had pizza and pop. They let her bring her own birthday cake. I would say that this place is really meant for preschoolers. I think that older children (over the age of 6 or 7 might be bored.

Hope that this helps.

We have had parties there for the past 2 years and we love it. I love how there is a hostess that does basically everything (set up, clean up, cut the cake) so we can even have fun and jump with the kids. The only thing I think is that you dont buy the pizza. Do the party when it isnt lunch or dinner at 1 or 2 because it gets too rushed. Here is pizza hurry up then cake then presents. We found that it is much better to jump then go in the room just for cake/icecream and do presents or whatever. The first time we had the party they had pizza and no one wanted cake because they were full and my daughter got sad nobody wanted her cake. The 2nd time we just did cake and it was a great time. Have fun!!!

We had my 5 yr old twin daughters party at the Crystal Lake location this past summer and it was great!! We had been to several before and they always had a blast. We did our own cake and party favors and we did give a tip because the staff did a great job managing it. My 11 yr old son as well as my 34 yr old husband and his brother had just as much fun as the kids!! Hope that helped!

We had a party there when my son's turned 4 and 2. The kids had a BLAST! The only downfall is, there was not nearly enough time in the party room, and it is quite expensive considering they do not provide any food.

I had my little girl's 3rd birthday there and also have attended several birthdays there. I hosted a party at the Lisle location. I have to say that it was great. The employees take care of everything, from setting up the room, to the cake, etc. They pack up the gifts for you in bags, if you choose to open them at home. I recommend it. It is a little pricey, but worth it.

We had a party at the LITH location in Feb of this year for 7 yr old girls. We have been invited to parties there since my daughter was 5 or so. Every party was a hit. I am fairly cheap and shopped around because of cost. I was able to invite all of the girls in her class plus soccer team to this party for about $7.50 a person. Most party places for girls were about $12-15.

They do EVERYTHING for you. The party room is set up for you by the time the kids are done jumping. They even write out the gift list for thank you notes. They also keep them in line in the bouncy rooms. I would not hesitate to go back for the ease it provided me.

I had my daughter's 5th b-day party at the Orland/Mokena location and it was a success. It is very pricy but you can save money if you have it at an earlier time or during the week. They do handle everything, the only bad thing that I can say is that the pizza was absolutely horrible, they ordered it from a nearby pizza place and it was bad, I would have to say that as bad as Chuck E. Cheese's pizza is, it was 100 times better than the pizza they served. You can bring in chips and pop and I brought in cupcakes instead of cake and the kids loved it. Kids and adults can go on all the inflatables, the kids are in heaven.

I had my son's 3rd birthday party at the location in Orland Park. I thought the cost was comparable to us having a party in our home. It was great!! They watched the kids to make sure no one was disobeying rules and playing nicely. They set up the party room, passed out pizza and pop, and cut and passed out the cake. The time spent in the play areas was a little short, but other than that I would definetely have another party there, and recommend it. The kids loved it and that what matters most.

We've attended parties at the Lisle location and at the Pump It Up Jr. location in Chicago. Both facilities were very nice and clean and the kids had a blast. My son got bumped in the nose and got a nosebleed and the staff were very attentive to him, running to get a first aid kit (not needed) and immediately cleaning up the blood. Definitely would recommend.

Hi M.!
I recently answered a request about where to have a birthday party. I'll copy and paste it for you.

Pump it Up is a great place for a party at this age. My son has had 2 parties there and he is continually invited to parties that his friends also have there. They are excited every time! The best part is that you really don't have to worry about a thing. The staff takes care of everything for you like giving you the invitations, moving the kids from one room to another so you don't have to worry about time limits, getting the party room ready, running the eating and gift opening, and even cutting the cake. The birthday boy/girl gets to sit in a giant blow up thrown when opening gifts - that just adds to their special day. Just show up with your cake and enjoy watching the kids have fun! I've notice in the weekly mailers that there are coupons for certain types of parties too.

In addition I have to say that it was the most stress free birthday party that we've had. Just that fact alone was well worth every cent!

I had my son's 4 year birthday party there (CL location), and his 5 year party is planned for there as well. I think they do a really nice job. I had my party early (9:15AM), so I had bagels and cream cheese that the owner let me bring in, instead of pizza. I assumed they would set out the bagels and let the kids and adults pick which kind they wanted, if they wanted one. But, instead, they put one on a plate for each kid. Well, most kids didn't eat theirs since they either didn't like that kind or they didn't want a bagel. So, I guess I should have talked to them about the bagels ahead of time, because I had hoped to bring home the extras. Other than that, it was very nice. They do all the set up and clean up and run the show, so you really get to enjoy the party. It's pricey if you are having a smaller group, but every kid I know of loves the place. I did tip them, but I can't remember how much.
