Hello... I have a cosmetic surgery schedule in August this year. I have lost a ton of weight and dealing with excess/lose skin (very frustrating). Anyways, to complete my success and hard work I really want to have this done. I've never had any cosmetic work done ever and am really scared. The Dr. came highly recommended and I really liked him alot. I am having a Brachioplasty (removal of underarm skin) and Bilateral thigh lift (removal of skin in between my legs). Is there anyone out there that has had this done or any advice for me at all? Also, I plan on having my Medial (outer) thighs done in the future but if I don't have them done will my body look funny or mis-shapen if I have just the inner thighs done? Thanks!

What can I do next?

GIRL!!!!!! First off, Congrats on losing the weight... My advise..... DO IT..You went thru the pain of losing the weight, now do something for yourself to prove you did it for a reason.. NO, I have never had surgery like this, but dont fear it, you deserve it and the results will be amazing..You have a right to be scared, it is major surgery. Be sure to talk to your doctor about your anxiety about the surgery. He can probably put a lot of your fears to rest. Be confident in who you are as a person. That is what matters the most. You are beautiful inside AND OUT. Good luck!

First of all, congratulations on having lost so much weight! That is awesome!

Secondly, I had a neighbor who had excess skin removed. He did it in stages also which worked out well. As his clothes were a little loose he didn't look misshapen between the time he did the inner and outer thighs. People who knew him understood that he was a work in progress and were very supportive. He also chose to do the arms first so he could get into short sleeves and not feel self conscious.

I have never had plastic surgery, but I do have lots of scars and have had lots of stitches. I highly recommend eating foods that are high in zinc or take a zinc supplement. Zinc aids with healing. I also recomend keeping any scars out of the sun and when you do go out make sure to use a high spf sunscreen on the scars. If you get sunburned the scars will get it worse. And drink lots and lots of water! That will also help your healing process. When I cracked open my forehead they told me I would have to have plastic surgery. You can't even see that scar anymore and if i point it out, only about half of the people say they can see it. When I almost cut my finger off the doctor was shocked at how fast I healed. Good luck on your surgery and congratulations on your weight loss!

congratulations on the weight loss. keep up the good work.

I have not had surgery before. but getting the extra skin removed will make you feel a lot better. there is a show on Discovery health about women who go through this type of surgery it might be beneficial to watch it. you might be even able to find it on line at the discovery health web site. a lot of women go through apprehension but then are very glad they got it done afterwords. you will be able to feel more confident about yourself and wear cloths that you never thought you would be able to.

about having the side of your legs done. you can just wait and see what the legs look like after the first surgery. if you think it looks funny then go ahead and get it done but if it doesn't then you don't need to get it done. that is a decision you can wait on.

congratulations again. and good luck.

Congrats on losing 100 pounds! I did the same after my son.

How did the surgery go? I am unable to finance my surgery or pay cash. Do you know if your doctor accepts payment plans? I am at the point of taking on a second job to make payments for my procedure. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you!

WOW!!! What a fantastic accomplishment!

I had cosmetic surgery last December. It was not the same type you are getting ready to have but I am really happy I did it and my only regret was not doing it sooner! I prepared for the surgery by getting in the best shape I could. I really concentrated on the cardio aspect of it. My Doctor says it made a huge difference in how quickly I recovered. Another thing is that my doctor used pain pumps. I think that made a big difference on how well I did. The final piece of advise is to request the anesthesieologist monitor your brain waves. Some do it routinely and some by request, but I had the fear of waking up mid-procedure (which is VERY VERY rare, but it was part of my concern) and by monitoring brain activity, they can insure all is well.

You have already made huge changes on how you do things and are reaping the rewards. This will be a great boost and validation for all the hard work you hav already done!

Best Wishes!
