Hey ladies. Im getting my last tooth in the back removed because it has turned into a root canal and its cheaper to pull. Also my top left wisdom tooth removed tomorrow. I've never had a tooth removed and wondering about the healing process. Should I wait until after thanksgiving or do you think I would heal before then.. I'm a little nervous in general.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks guys, I'm actually not in any pain at all just wanted to get it over with. But if its going to ruin my thanksgiving I wanted to wait. I've heard it can go either way. I'm thinking I should wait just in case :/

I wouldn't expect to get to eat Thanksgiving dinner. I don't know if you'll even feel like cooking it. Can you wait? I would...

So sorry!

I've had my wisdom teeth pulled and been there when my daughter had hers pulled. Definitely wait until after Thanksgiving. Your gums will be sore and tender. You'll need to not put food on that side because there will be a hole, i.e an open wound.

I'm having a temp crown put in on Tuesday after breaking a tooth last week.
When I had wisdom and bicuspid teeth removed (years ago), I was eating pizza 2 days later.
But the healing process can vary a lot from person to person.

It REALLY can go either way.

Most of my dental work I'm doing normal stuff an hour later and I'm the BIGGEST baby with mouth pain. Seriously.. My brother (tough guy, for real, no sarcasm) is laid out flat like a lizard drinking for a WEEK after dental work.

So I'm tooth pulled and back at a physically active job, and eating in an hour.

My brother is using a straw to drip broth into the back of his throat (like a bartender testing a drink), on painkillers on the couch, with a face that looks like a chipmonk. For. A. Week.

You might be like me, but what. if. you're. like. my. brother???

The only teeth I've had removed were wisdom teeth, and I felt pretty much back to normal in 36 hours. So, if you're planning to get it done Monday or Tuesday you should be fine for Thanksgiving. I guess it depends on how much pain you're in right now! Good luck :)

I had a tooth pulled to make room when getting braces. It was no big deal and I was fine the next day. My wisdom teeth were impacted and had to be cut out and I didn't eat for three days after that. I'd wait, just to be safe.

Um, yeah. You're going to want to wait until after Thanksgiving. Even if you heal quickly, you will still have a gaping hole in your mouth that food can get stuck in, and it will get infected... over the long weekend when your dentist won't be working! Ugh. Better to wait until Monday when a Jamba Juice diet will be a lot more appealing. :)

The only teeth I've had removed were impacted wisdom teeth and I ended up with dry sockets even with extensive after care as prescribed.

If I had an option... I'd wait to see how you do. Everyone reacts differently. Might as well do it just after the holiday and enjoy the weight loss!!

I was 18 at almost 100# and lost weight because I couldn't eat.

I think if I had the option... I'd enjoy my holiday dinner and remove the teeth shortly afterwards so you are ready for Christmas!

I had 2 wisdom teeth removed because one was starting to decay (I'd already lost one and only had three to start with). I didn't have any complications, impacted roots, etc. I still felt like I had the flu for a few days (had anesthesia), and I had a big bruise on my face near my jaw.

If there was any way to wait until right after Thanksgiving that would be my vote. It's really hard to know how you'll feel.

Good luck.

You should be fine for Thanksgiving. I had six teeth pulled at one time so that I could have a partial denture put in. Teeth removed and partial put in immediately. I was able to eat the next day.

If you are having tooth aches, get them out asap before it becomes infected. If your not hurting, wait until after the holiday.

I would wait since you're not in pain. No need taking the chance of ruining your Thanksgiving if you don't have to!

I would wait, unless they are infected or you are in pain!!
