I used Arbonne's certified vegan protein shakes while breastfeeding (and still do). I brought the ingredient list to my OB for her okay - I would suggest you do the same. I like them because they don't contain soy which can be a hormone disruptor. They've got 18 grams of protein, 110 calories (only 10 from fat), low carb & sweetened with Stevia. A consultant can give you a print out of the ingredients or you can email me if you don't know anyone. The fiber is really good too, mixed with the protein makes a great meal replacement. My husband & I still have these every morning, yum! Enjoy that baby - they grow fast!

Most of them are safe. Just avoid any that have caffeine. Protein is very important while pregannt.

Most protein shakes are soy protein or soy protein isolates. Go to drmercola.com and watch his clips about soy and how it mimicks estrogen and is causing lifetime problems in children. I drank a lot of soy with my daughter and she was almost 12 pounds and my friend drank a lot of soy shakes and she had a 10 pound boy, but her daughter was only 6 pounds with out the soy. I regret drinking it after I now have the knowledge not too. You should be getting your protein from veggies. There are a lot that are high in protein.

I can also give you information on the product my friend drank in leiu of soy and had a healthier 6 pound baby. Only if you are interested.

God Bless!

Hi T. - you would be very pleased with Juice Plus Complete. Not only would it completely satisfy your hunger, but your baby would be healthier for it. I would recommend the Juice Plus Complete nutritional shake powder which would be very safe and healthy for both you and your child. It comes in chocolate and vanilla. I have a scoop mixed with cold water for breakfast or any other time I'm hungry and it satisfies me for hours. It's full of protein and all of the plant based nutrients, plus iron and calcium from natural sources that you and your baby need. I'll email you the ingredients if you contact me at ____@____.com. Check out my website www.WeThriveonJuicePlus.com. Juice Plus is most well known for it's fruits and vegetables in capsules. There's nothing added, it's 28 actual fruits, vegetables, berries and grains without the water, sugar, salt and pestides (and some fiber removed to fit in the capsules!). It's one of the best things you could do for the health of you and your baby, especially while breast feeding.

Anything that is without chemicals that are "performance enhancers" like taurine, guarana, creatine... I use the chocolate flavored powder from Costco. Generally you want it to be a whey protein with as few additives as possible.

Haven't breastfed in awhile (mine are 5 & 4 now), but my OB/GYN recommended JuicePlus Complete. You would want to double check with yours since it has been awhile and recommendations change all the time. 13g protein, 4g fiber and only 1g fat and it has added fruit and vegetable juice powders. No artificial sweetners, corn, yeast, wheat, egg or milk products. You can mix with milk (soy, rice etc), juice or water. I am still using the shakes today, and have a bunch of great receipes that my kids (and hubby) love. Keep on breastfeeding, and enjoy this time, they do grow fast!!!
