Private Schools - Cedar Park,TX

We are looking at private schools for our son for next year and are getting a bit overwhelmed with all of the information we are receiving. He will start in pre-K, but we want somewhere that he can grow into elementary school. Any moms out there with their children in either Hill Country Bible School or Holy Family Catholic School? Any other schools in way North Austin or Cedar Park/Leander/ Round Rock that we should be looking at? Any advice to help us make a decision? Any information/advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

What can I do next?

Hi D.,

I know a lot of families with children at Hill Country Christian School (the one at Hill Country Bible Church) and they like it a lot.

We have our children at Sterling Classical School in Leander and it has been a huge blessing. It is a blend of traditional schooling and 'homeschooling'. Grades K - 4 attend 2 days a week, and have age appropriate 'homework' that the parent leads on home days. The upper grades then transition to 3 days in the classroom and 2 days at home. I have really liked this model of schooling - we get to have so much more time with our children, learning along with them, really. And our evenings are still family time - our children are able to get all their work done during the day on their home days and so we don't have hours each night with homework. We have loved it. Feel free to ask me any other questions - my children are currently in 3rd, 6th and 7th. The website address for Sterling is www.sterlingclassicalschool.com

I have a couple of friends who have children at Summit Christian Academy and really like it.

I have a coworker whose son went to Round Rock Christian Academy from Kinder to Graduation. She liked it alot. CB

D., I have a teenager at Hill Country Christian School (HCCSA) and we LOVE it! He's been there since 6th grade (we lived elsewhere prior to that), and it has been absolutely the biggest blessing in his and our lives. The thing I love the most about HCCSA (aside from the fact that they have WONDERFUL academics) is that they teach the students to own their faith. I.e., they don't shove religion down their throats, they make faith in Christ a natural part of everything the kids learn and when they're older, they teach them how to think for themselves rather than just parroting what they hear (all from a sound Biblical perspective). Kind of the "talk about it when you sit and when you rise, talk about it when you're walking on the road ..." kind of thing. The teachers really love the kids and do a great job of shepherding, mentoring, shaping their hearts. As I said, their academic standards are top notch, they have great sports teams (not important to us, but it is to a lot of people), and ... well, it's hard to describe because it's just such a fantastic place! It's a real sacrifice for us to send our son there, but it's worth every penny, and God is blessing us with a young man who truly loves Him, who is developing his own relationship with Christ (rather than just sorta hanging onto our coattails), and who is SO ready for the college application process because the school has put so much effort into making these kids ready. I can't recommend HCCSA highly enough!
