Well unfortunately I can't give you any specific names of obgyns at those hospitals. But, I too, had twin boys 4yrs ago and can understand what you are going through. My neighbor works at Good Sam in the Maternity area. She is a very good nurse and would trust her with my babies. I call her every once in a while for advice too. I have a friend that used to work as a NICU nurse at Emanuel Hospital. She really knows her stuff as well. She no longer works as a NICU nurse but she now teaches birthing classes. As for St. Vincent, I had to go there once a week for testing because I was considered high risk. Every one there took very good care of me. All of these hospitals were not too far from my house about 20 -30 miles so I chose Portland Adventist just off of I205 freeway. Its only about 6 miles from my house. They took excellent care of me as well. They are very large rooms. My obgyn was not associated with just one hospital and when I went to St. Vincent and Portland Adventist for testing I didn't see anybody specific. I am sorry this probably isn't the answer you are looking for. My doctor I did see on a regular basis was Dr. Anita Chan. Here is her info: 177 Northeast 102nd Avenue, Portland, OR 97220-4169,
###-###-####. I know she is on the NE side of town for you but she knows her stuff. The nice thing too is that it is an all womens office. Good luck, everything will be just fine.

Welcome! You said you wanted a natural birth & I'm not sure if you know that in the US birthing is very different in hospitals from that of Europe. It is almost impossible to get a "natural birth", no drugs, interventions, time schedules at any hospital. If you want a natural birth, I would go to a birthing center such as A. Midwifery. Not a walk for you, but well worth the trip across the bridge. They are midwives & nurse midwives & can take some insurance. I think they may do twins as well. Anyway, I would always rather have a baby with a midwife outside of a hospital in the US, it is much safer & woman & baby focused. Good luck with everything!

Hi Mimi, I have a 5 yr old and 2 yr old twins. Welcome to Portland! I didn't deliver at either hospital, but one of my twins was in the PICU at Legacy Emmanuel when he was just a couple of months old and they did a really good job and I was very happy with the care he had there. About delivery, I wrestled with the same issues. I wanted to deliver close to my house at Kaiser sunnyside, but I ended up driving to st vincent until I reached 35 weeks. After 35 weeks I went back to sunnyside. I had complications though, so if you aren't having any I think you would be fine at samaritan. I would probably tour Legacy just in case you end up there - that way it feels familiar. I went to 39 weeks with my twins and they were healthy babies! Congratulations to you - twins are lots of fun!

Dr. Krishna at the NorthWest Women's Clinic is fantastic. She delivered my twins almost 7 months ago and was very supportive of my desire to deliver naturally. One of her clinic's is walking distance from you at Good Sam where she delivers but she also has delivery rights at Providence St. V. She is very skilled and experienced with twin delivery and a great doctor. ###-###-####. I highly recommend her. Good luck!
