Pregnancy over 35? - Spring,TX

Hi, my question is....I turned 35 this past October so I am 35 and 3 months. I have heard it becomes more difficult to get pregnant over 35. If it happens, this will be my 2nd pregnancy (first at age 32). Anyway, just interested in some feedback as to how long it usually takes (if indeed it takes longer) I know it is always different for every one. Thank you!

What can I do next?

I got pregnant with my only at 39-1/2 - after less than 2 weeks of trying. My sister was 34 with her first, it took her almost 2 years. Her second was conceived 6 weeks after her first was born. You never know.

I got pregnant within one month of trying at age 35 and then again within two months of trying at age 38! My grandmother had my mother at age 43. It really does depend on the individual, but unless you have some type of condition, it shouldn't be a problem.

Everyone is different. I got pregnant last Jan after having an ovary removed in Nov. I was 37. I did not expect it to happen that quickly! But, I am thrilled it did!

I really think it depends on your health....My first at the age of 37, second at 39 and my surprise at 41 1/2. I had been on the pill for over 15 years, stopped it in Dec. was pregnant by march....I guess every situation is different...Your energy level is not what is was at 25, oh well ! Now at the ripe old age of 51, having a 10, 12, and 14 year old keeps you going....no time to feel old....

I had baby #1 when I was 28. All I remember in my 20's is trying NOT to get pregnant.

Baby #2 when I was 39...after a divorce, remarriage and then a couple of miscarriages. That seemed to take 'forever' and I was loosing hope of having a baby with this marriage.

Then Baby #3, when I was almost 42. The conception happened right when we wanted. Pregnancy was completely normal with no complications, but I am also healthy and active and don't smoke or drink.

At 50 I still have not started menopause and could easily get pregnant again. I'm just a healthy, fecund type of woman. There are so many factors that play into a couples fertility: lifestyle, genetics, health of both partners, etc.

I am not aware of it being more difficult to get pregnant over 35 as is the risk factors increase for other issues. You would now be considered at the 'advanced maternal age.' So high blood pressure and gestational diabetes might become issues. Then a women's eggs are older so the incidence of other issues increase, like mental retardation.

I was 31 with my 1st, 35 with my second and 42 when I had my 3rd. Everyone is different, of course, but it took me almost exactly a year to conceive with all 3. It seems like, when I was about to give up (and relaxed about it), I conceived! Best wishes to you :)

My first pregnancy was also at age 32, and we conceived immediately after going off of birth control. My second pregnancy was at age 35, and we conceived on our first try. I planned the second one though by taking my basal temperature and charting it for a full month before we wanted to get pregnant. It really worked for both me and for a friend who'd been trying to conceive for several months. We both started charting our temps at the same time and did it for a month, and we both got pregnant within a week of each other.

BTW, I'd always been told that conceiving would take awhile if you were older and if you'd been on birth control for a long time, both of which applied to me. That turned out not to be true for me. Hopefully you'll have success quickly as well.

Good luck to you!
