Pregnancy Concerns - Tampa,FL

After 6 months of trying for #2 I am finally pregnant. However, when I took the test at the beginning of Dec. it came out neg. I assumed I wasn't pregnant. I had scheduled a dr appt months ago to discuss fertility meds and it's next week. I didn't take another preg test again b/c I thought my period was just irregular and late(like it always has been) and i just wrote off the fact that I wasn't going to get pregnant without meds. Well, I found out Monday after 3 consecutive tests that I am pregnant, which puts me at 7 weeks. When I was 7 weeks with my daughter I was already HORRIBLY sick. I really don't feel pregnant right now except for slightly sore boobs. My appt isn't until next Wed. and I'm nervous that perhaps I have lost this pregnancy. I know I'm probably just being paranoid, but I was terribly sick my entire last pregnancy and now I'm not. They say each pregnancy is different, but both my sisters were horribly sick with all of their children as well. I've taken a test every day since Monday because I'm a little worried. The first day of my last period was Nov. 24th. Am I being irrational?

What can I do next?

You only have to wait a little longer for lab reports and dr's appointment. You know pregnancies can be different, and don't have to be horrible with sickness, lack of sleep, etc. Mine were only noticeable from the gigantic tummy! Just take it easy. Good luck.

I didn't get sick at all with DD #1 and had NO complications whatsoever with that pregancy. I got slightly sick with DD #2 and had some spotting throughout the pregnancy, but she was full-term and perfectly healthy. I was sickest with Baby #3 and found out at 12 weeks that I had miscarried. So please don't rely on morning sickness as an indicator of a healthy pregnancy. When you go to the doctor you will be far enough along to see a heartbeat on ultrasound, so if you are nervous, ask that they do one. And congratulations and good luck to you!

First try to relax, you don't want to stress your body. My test were negative at first as well, and even my regular dr's office told me my blood work wasn't high enough to be pregnant, but i was. I didn't get sick right away either and yes every pregnancy is different I could have sworn i was having a girl this time and i am having another boy. So try not to stress let things take there course right now until you get your blood work done. Everything happens for a reason, it will work out the way it's supposed to just hang in there. I am now 18wks pregnant and was just as concerned in the beginning and took a bunch of home test also, your boobs being sore is a good sign. Good Luck!! LisaM

You are right that every pregnancy is different, so don't worry yourself needlessly. Your dr appt is next week.. so don't start worrying unless the dr says you have a reason to.
But keep this in mind:

Do you know the date of conception? When you took the test at the beginning of Dec, you probably WEREN'T pregnant. If the first day of your last period was Nov 24, then you probably ovulated sometime around Dec 4-7 or so (about 10-12 days into your cycle). If your irregular period is often "late" then you may have ovulated even later than that. Either way, you probably are no more than about 5 weeks along.

So don't fret, you may STILL get horrendously ill!! :)

For what it's worth.. I always heard that girls made mom's sicker b/c of the hormones... so maybe this is a boy. lol

There are SO many "tales" about what this means or that means... it could be as simple as your body is receiving more appropriate nutrition this time... not lacking B vitamins or magnesium that you were short on the first go around or something like that. But nobody really knows.. if they did, there wouldn't be women out there suffering with morning sickness! So you cannot rely on being sick or not as meaning ANYthing.
Try to enjoy the fact that you are not miserable (or at least not yet) and count it as a blessing!

Congrats on the pregnancy!

Relax, and let God do his good work.

I am sure that you and your baby are fine.

When I was preg. with my first " my daughter "
I was as sick as a dog. When I was preg. with my 2nd and 3rd pregnancys with " my boys "
I was fine.

When the world says that every pregnancy is different, please trust that to be true.

You are so much like me = ). I was freaked out about EVERYTHING!!!

But truly relax, and let God do his good work. = )

God bless you and your new little one.

P.S. If there is a bet about the sex of this beautiful baby, I will
put $10.00 down and say it's a boy. LOL......

I'm 8 weeks pregnant and had similar concerns. I got sick with my son at 5 or 6 weeks and stayed REALLY sick till about 14 weeks. When I found out I was pregnant again I was waiting and waiting for the symptoms to kick in and they weren't. My friends were saying every pregnancy is different but I had my fears (I've lost one before). Well, I can tell you so far, so good. I had a viability ultrasound and all was fine and at 7.5 weeks the symptoms kicked in and I'm feeling horrible. Go ahead and make your appointments with your doctor to check your hormone levels and such and just enjoy the non-sickness while it lasts because nausea and tiredness may be just around the corner.

Sounds like just the mommy worries. I would have never known I was even pregnant with my first. Never sick a moment, had almost zero symptoms in the beginning but with my second I was green all day and into the night. The pregnancies were like night and day. Cancel your fertility appt and schedule your prenatal appt! Best to you!

It sounds like a bunch of worrying over nothing to me. I have three kids, and aside from my second child who I was violently ill with from conception to delivery (literally) I never feel pregnant until about I am in my 2nd trimester. But if your tests have come out positive and you calculate yourself to be about 7 weeks along, it's time to call your OB and schedule your first prenatal appointment. They will check you out and make sure baby is okay. Until then, if there is no bleeding or cramping - just enjoy that you got preggo on your own and your not puking your guts up every five minutes!

Every pragnancy is different, just like every child is different. I threw up constantly with my first child, to the point that they put me on anti nausea medication so I would gain weight. I threw up once during my second pregnancy one morning when I was brushing my teeth. They were both girls despite the myth that someone told me girls make you sick and boys do not. COngratulations and Best Wishes!

If you haven't been bleeding I wouldn't worry. I'm pregnant with #4 and they've all been totally different! I've also had a miscarriage and the bleeding was the ONLY sign. Calm down, call your doc tell him/her that you are now pregnant and that the appt needs to be changed.
Congrats!
