Potty training is in stages:
1) peeing in toilet
2) pooping in toilet
3) Night time dryness.... which can take even until 7 years old to attain. Normal.

Pooping in a toilet... is often the 2nd part of potty training and it takes time. Don't push it... or the child will start to get Constipated and "withhold" their poop. Then it hurts, and the poop gets harder and harder, and then pain ensues so the child will withhold it more. It can be a vicious cycle for which it can take months to overcome. My daughter had to see a Pediatric Gastroenterologist when she was potty training and had constipation problems. HE said this is common in potty training Toddlers. He said, you have to let the child go at their own pace. Let them poop in a diaper... since they are not yet wanting or able to go in the toilet. No rewards/punishments will "make" them go. And you do not want the child to get complications because of pooping. HE said pooping in a toilet then becomes an "emotion" based and biological based problem... if it becomes a battle. For my girl, we did NOT force her to poop in a toilet... but as she was progressing in toilet training... she just got anxiety about pooping in a toilet.... so we let her go at her own pace. But she got constipated... and we then had to treat her with things per the Doctor's prescriptions. According to the Doctor... pooping attainment, in a toilet, can take MONTHS. The child is simply not ready. The Doctor also strongly advises against using "enemas" or suppositories in a child... although some do. It can be habit forming.

Are your twins taking Miralax everyday because they are constipated? If they are not constipated... they do not have to use that and certainly not everyday. It will not make them poop in a toilet.

give them more time, perhaps don't mention it for a while. My daughter did the same thing. I asked her if she wanted me to just step outside the bathroom door and give her some privacy and that seemed to help. Every child is different. Don't try to push or punish.

good luck

It took my daughter 4 months of peeing before she'd go poop. I bought her the book "everybody poops" to get her to come out of hiding, and then I bribed her with elmo undies and gummies. It worked like a charm. I also gave her "alone" time.

I was just dealing with this today and my mom gave me some ideas... she doesn't know how to control all those muscles yet and even if she wants to poop she can't because it is a new sensation to sit down and poop, and she's stressed about it and so her muscles aren't relaxed... We tried pooping at least 4 times today to no avail, but then she was playing/doing something fun when she MADE THAT FACE (you KNOW what I'm talking about!) so we sat her on the potty as quick as we could and YAY--POOPIE!!! She knew the poop was in her body (like your girls do), but she just had to relax enough to get it out.
We also are bribing with a little baby cookie hung in a zippie bag in the bathroom. I even tried a little snack for TRYING to go. oh yeah, we also are trying to keep her fluids up and eat raisins every day. and if she hasn't gone in over a day, we offer the diaper b/c I am so afraid of her getting backed-up. If they are young, it'll probably take a little longer to be regular and successful. good luck!
