Hello! My husband and I are moving to Pleasanton from Burbank and I was wondering if someone could pass on a favorite elementary school and area to live. My daughter will be starting kindergarten - she's artistic and imaginitive. Thank you so much!

What can I do next?

Honestly, all of the schools in the Pleasanton, San Ramon, Danville areas are wonderful - there isn't a bad one, or one to avoid. You can't go wrong! Same with the neighborhoods...it's a great area! We moved to the area a year ago, and absolutely love the schools and community! Good luck!

The only school in Pleasanton that might be different would be the Valley View Elementary School if you want your child to be in the dual immersion program (Spanish). But that would not apply to the whole school, just those that elect to have their child learn spanish as well as english. Budget cuts may mean larger class size, otherwise all of the schools have a great reputation.

Both of my daughters go to Donlon and we LOVE it. It is a great school and the principal Mr. Schweitzer is wonderful. He dresses up with them for Halloween and treats the kids like they are his own - likewise he is very into making sure everyone is treated well. They have a different Lifeskill they teach the kids each month, like respect, problem solving, etc. We have loved every teacher my girls have had, my oldest is in 3rd grade and my youngest is in 1st.) We live in the Val Vista homes and it is a nice close walk to school, but there are also some other nice areas to live in that still go to Donlon. Just keep in mind that there are a lot of budget cuts coming into the Pleasanton distric, so we are not sure what next year will be like in any of the Pleasanton schools yet.

Feel free to let me know if you have anymore questions!
Good Luck!
M.

Hello C.,

All of the Pleasanton schools are great. Do you already know which neighborhood you are going to live? There are a few schools that are impacted so you may want to check with the school district before getting set on one neighborhood school and find out that you have to go to a different school.
