Placenta Previa...tell Me Your Story
At an ultrasound at 22 weeks it was determined that I have a low lying placenta, I was a little freaked out but calmed down. Now at 26 weeks my doc and I talked about it and I'm freaked out again. Can I hear your stories?? Good and bad, I just want to know what I'm in for here!

I had a low lying placenta at my 20 week US as well. Like everyone else has mentioned - mine moved by the time I had my next US (at 28 weeks). Don't stress about it too much (though I know that's easier said than done!). It's pretty rare for the placenta to not move by the time you're full term. And as someone else stated - you would just end up with a c-section, but at least you'll know about it in advance and it wouldn't be an emergency c-section. I've had sections with both my kids and, well, it is what it is. They're not all that bad.

I stayed off my feet as much as possible, and other than cabin fever, I didn't have any problems. No c-section or anything.
My sister had a worse time and had to spend much of her pregnancy hospitalized, then have a c-section.
Still, we each had a healthy baby girl! And our pregnancies were over 20 years ago, and you know how much medical science improves in that much time!

I ended up to be very lucky. The placenta moved and was able to deliver my son normally. I actually did a lot of water aerobics during my pregnacy and the doctor say the movement may have helped a lot.
Good Luck

I had a low lying placenta with my last 2 pregnancies. Once I grew more, the placenta moved up the uterine wall, and I delivered normally both times. There were some bleeding episodes, which had me a bit freaked out, but both boys are happy & healthy. Don't be afraid to ask your OB for an ultrasound if you are nervous, or at the very least, a heartbeat check. Chances are, things will be fine, but a stressed mom leads to a stressed baby. Even if your placenta stays low lying, or you go to complete previa, a c-section isn't the worst thing in the world.

I also had a low-lying placenta. I had a late ultra sound with both my pregnancies for the doctor to check and everything ended up being fine. So similar to what someone else has written-the placenta always moves :) Good luck and don't worry!

Hi, I was told the same thing at my 20 week ultrasound, but it moved on its own and I had a normal vaginal delivery. I think it's pretty common, and in most cases it moves on its own. Hopefully yours will too! If not, they'll schedule a c-section a few weeks before your due date (or at least that's what my doc said) Good luck!

Me too, but mine moved up on it's own by 35 weeks. Don't worry yourself over nothing yet, it seems very common by the posts to move up on its own. Hooray for baby!
