Period or Not or What??

I am breastfeeding a 7 month old baby and I am taking the progestin only birth control pill. I admit that I don't always taje it at the exact hour every day. Yesterday I thought I was starting my period for the first time since pregnancy because I saw a hint of blood on the TP after using the restroom. But now after a second full day I still have no more than little bits on the TP. I just don't know what to make of it. I'm reading things online and it sounds like implantation bleeding in early pregnancy. I have been very tired in the evenings but I'm also busy lately. I had a heavy first period after my first pregnancy. Have any of you had a super light first period after pregnancy? or could I be pregnant again so soon even while nursing? And if so, how soon do I test since I have no missed period date to go by?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

So I took at pregnancy test and it was negative. I bet my body is just trying to normalize again after pregnancy, or the spotting is a side effect to the pill. I read that pamphlet and it does list that as a side effect. I am going to test again in a week, or just call my doctor for a blood test next week to be sure. Just the thought, although unplanned, is exciting, but I don't want to get excited over false hope. Thanks for the advice!

Another update: I talked with my doctor and another test confirmed no pregnancy. The spotting was most likely from not taking my pills at the exact same time daily. Its good to know for sure now.

Hi C.! I got pregnant with my third child when I was breastfeeding an 11 month old. Take a pregnancy test to check, get a multi pack so you can check it in a week if the first one comes back negative.
But it also could be just a light period from this being your first period and your body is just trying to get back to normal. Either way, I would go ahead and take a pregnancy test just to be sure. Best wishes, and good luck!

Hi C.,

I am exclusively breastfeeding my 9 week old and have had very similar experiences like you and I'm a worry wort so I took the test and it was negative.
I occasionally have the somewhat heavy bleeding and think I'm starting my period so I put a pad on to find that throughout the day I have no more bleeding!
I too am also taking the progestin only pill but I have not missed any pills....I have to be super careful since this is my 3rd baby.
Anyhow, I feel very similar to you so I wouldn't just assume you're pregnant just yet.
I also get the extreme fatigued feeling throughout the evening times but I think it's just our exhaustion from having new babies to take care of.
Good luck to you and let us know if you decide to take the test! : )

I would take a pregnancy test - our third child(that I am pregnant with now) was conceived while taking Micronor. I did not miss pills and I took them atthe same time EVERY day as we had decided that we were done having children. My husband travels out of state 5 days a week and I am now almost 6 months pregnant. I would get a test!

Hi C., Just wanted to say that I'm on the same pill because of headaches and blood pressure and I'm only 26! I haven't had a baby yet but these pills have made my period really weird. I have never skipped a period but did on these, I had a cow! My periods are very light and I'll think I'm going to start and then I don't. But my doctor did say that they have a higher rate of pregnancy since it's just one hormone so you really do need to take them more steadily. She said she's seen alot of women nursing that will come back in that didn't take them like they should and get pregnant again. I take mine while I'm watching Everybody Loves Raymond. You can set an alarm if you have to. Anyway, the pills make you really irregular, try not to worry.
