Hi! My family and I are relocating to Abington and I am looking for any recommendations for a pediatrician or pediatric practice in that general area. I work much better with a doctor who is there to help, but is laid back and not strict and opinionated about every aspect of child care. Thank you so much!

What can I do next?

We go to South Shore Medical Center in Norwell (also offices in Kingston). We see Dr. Boutwell. My girls love her and we have been with her for 10 years.

Hi J.,
I take my 2 sons to South Shore pediatrics in S. Weymouth (right off route 18). We see Dr. Kilduff who is great. He is very laid back and kind of old school. If you ask him a question, he will give you an answer with justification behind it referring to studies etc. He is definately not overly opinionated on every aspcect of childcare, and is pretty easy going. He always takes his time and answers all of our questions. My sister also takes her 3 kids there too. There are 3 other doctors in the practice. Dr. Katz-- he is very nice as well and Dr. Trainer--I have never meet her but have heard good things about her. Dr. Tai I am not a fan of she is a younger doctor and is very text book, she means well but never seems to think outside the box. I would definatley recommend Dr. Kilduff to anyone he has kids of his own (I believe they are teen+ now) and seems to know how it is in the real world of parenthood. Their number is ###-###-####.
If you have anyother questions please feel free to ask me.
Best of luck,

K.

Hi J.,

We take our 11 month old to South Shore Pediatrics in Columbian Sq. in South Weymouth and see Dr. Kilduff. He is very laid back and has been a Pedi there for almost 30 years. We love him and really trust him. He is excellent with our baby girl and the office as a whole is great about sick visits, you never have to wait long. Good luck!

Hi,

We bring our son to Bulotsky and Associates in Brockton and love it. They are located about 5 minutes away from the Walmart in Abington. The office is open everyday...weekends and holidays and they have a doctor on call 24 hours for those after hours phone calls. My son's primary is Dr. Hausman and we love him. He called us at home one time to see how our son did after a surgery he had. Drs. Narula and Blanchard from the same practice are also great. There is a new doc who we haven't met...I don't know his name...sorry. Anyway, their number is ###-###-####.

Whatever you decide, I suggest setting up meetings with a couple of different physicians and go with whom you feel that most comfortable.

Good luck!

J.,

I really like Dr. Philip Hourigan at TriCounty Pediatrics in Stoughton. He's very supportive of the mother's choices and doesn't try to push his opinion on you unless you ask for it. He's very kind. We've had him for two months and so far so good. There are a few others in his practice that I have not met yet.

Hi J.,

I know this is a late response but just in case you still need a pedi -- I agree about South Shore Pediatrics in Weymouth! Great practice! We've been there for nearly 3 years with my first daughter and now with my 5 month old. They always fit you in if you have a sick child that day, they have a great nurse info line, after hours call-backs are always very prompt. I have to disagree, though, about the other mom's assessment of Dr. Tai. She's our primary and we love her!! She is young but not right-out-of-school-young (mid-30s, I think), really patient and kind and knowledgeable. I was a very nervous first-time mom and she never made me feel silly for asking what I now know were some pretty silly questions! Recently she responded to my call to their answering service on a Sunday -- I wasn't sure I should bring my daughter into the ER or not, and Dr. Tai had me meet her in the office instead! It was great to be able to see my daughter's regular doctor, not have to sit in the ER all afternoon, and she even saved me a $100 co-pay for the ER visit! Needless to say, I'm a big fan!

Good luck!

Hi!

I'm not sure if Quincy is too far for you, but I take my daughter to Dr. George Hom at south suburban pediatrics. It's a small practice run by him and his Pedi NP Annette. He used to be out of Braintree Harvard Vanguard. I've been very happy with them, he's very laid back and friendly. Plus, on the weekends etc... you always get a someone personally on call- not an answering service.
