My daughter wants to play pin the wings on the fairy at her bday party, do I need to provide prizes? We are doing a pinata and I got the kids Pez dispensers as parting gifts, so I really don't feel like they need anything else.......But, will prizes be expected?

This is for a 5th year party, with most of the kids attending being between 3-6.

What can I do next?

For me? I would NOT have prizes. I would have my "goody bags" or "thank you" bags at the end. This would nip any "I like hers better" or "his is better than mine" quips that might happen.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

No goody bags are enough. The games are just part of the party and no one gets rewarded. The parting gifts that you are giving is enough.

When my son was younger, whenever we had a game, we had a prize for each one. Bubbles are a fun and an inexpensive gift, stickers... crayons.. I don't think the kids expect gifts though (esp the 3 year olds) to me, the little gifts that you win, just make it all the more fun

however, I think either way, with or without gifts works..

good luck

I agree, no prizes unless everyone gets them. Ages 3-6, they will want what the other has and won't have the concept of "she won and you didn't". No sense stirring the pot...

I avoid prizes at all costs at birthday parties. I did them at my son's forth birthday and it was a mess. Kids who won, got upset because they liked someone else's prize better. Kids who lost, but still got a prize still got upset because they lost. Since then we play for fun and no one has ever been upset over that idea. So I am with you, no prizes.

I wouldn't -- unless you're giving a prize to everyone. We've done games and I think I once gave books as prizes, but I planned out who got what, they were wrapped, and everyone got one.

When my kids turned 4 and 2 (with a newborn) we hosted a carnival type party. We got different games and had buckets of prizes at each one. Everyone got multiple things to take home...they were Oriental Express things, but still.

I'd maybe do prizes, but give everyone a winning prize.

Give everyone who plays a fairy sticker. The winner gets to pick thier sticker first. The end!

We did Stickers for the "Winners" of the different games and it was fun for the kids - the Winner got to pick a sticker from a "special" sheet and everyone else got to pick from another sheet.

Worked great

no, you don't have to do prizes.....nor do you have to do goody bags. :)

Easiest way to handle this: hand out a balloon to each child as he leaves. Or a sucker with curly ribbon attached.

Simplest is best.

When we played games at my son's birthday party I had purchased stickers that looked like tiny trophies, but we were busy having fun and no one asked for prizes.

Are all the Pez dispensers different? Have the winner get their pick of the Pez dispensers. I don't think you really need additional prizes just making the winner feel more special. I would like them either pick their Pez dispenser before everyone else or have them go 2nd at the pinata (because birthday girl goes first :)
